Background
Please note that this is an extra-budgetary funded post and initial appointment will be until 31 December, 2013 with possible extension upon receipt of funds.
Under the direct supervision of Head of the Rule of Law Unit and in co-ordination with the Trial Monitoring Team, the incumbent will support the implementation of the Office’s extra-budgetary project 2013 – 2015 Justice Sector Development Programme, in monitoring court proceedings at criminal, civil and economic-administrative jurisdictions in the Baku capital area and in the regions across the country.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Under the direct supervision of Head of the Rule of Law Unit the incumbent performs the following tasks and functions
1. Observes court hearings as assigned by the Office’s Trial Monitoring Team and produces the transcripts of the attended court hearings and fills in the questionnaires reflecting factual information on the cases the Trial attended;
2. Obtains from trial participants relevant case files, including judgements, indictments, motions and other court related documents, as required;
3. Reports on a daily basis to the Trial Monitoring Team regarding the outcome of their trial observation;
4. Performs other duties as required by the supervisor(s) and Head of Office
Necessary Qualifications
Education
• Completed secondary education supplemented by legal studies;
Experience
• Minimum three years of work experience in a legal field, preferably in trial-monitoring, with good knowledge of international human rights and freedoms standards as well as the national legal system in Azerbaijan;
• Computer literate with practical experience in Microsoft applications;
Languages
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, Azerbaijani and Russian languages.
Other
• Ability to work with people of different nationalities, religions and cultural backgrounds;
• Demonstrated gender awareness and sensitivity, and an ability to integrate a gender perspective into tasks

Gross salary per month is 987,08 EUR.
