Role and Responsibilities:

  • Direct and control operations at the rig site to ensure they are performed In accordance with company requirements and without accidents of any kind. In particular ensure that the operations are efficiently and safely performed in compliance with the approved drilling or workover program, drilling instructions or the established procedures and Guidelines and that all rig site personnel are aware of and adhere to these requirements.
  • Personally supervise delicate and risky operations.
  • Analyze the instantaneous data.
  • Manage HSE at the rig site as the highest priority by demonstrating visible HSE leadership and an unrelenting commitment to a safe working environment. This shall include: Participating in the company or/and Drilling Contractors "STOP" program to identify unsafe conditions or procedures and encouraging active participation by all Service Company personnel in the STOP program to eliminate accidents before they occur. 
  • Report all HSE incidents in a timely and accurate manner, and lead the initial on-site investigation of all incidents and near misses, to identify and document the sequence of events and immediate causes of the incident as quickly as possible. 
  • Resolve operational problems as they arise within the framework of the company policies and standards, and ensure that non-routine or unforeseen activities are always meticulously planned and organized to identify potential hazards and to mitigate risks.
  • Organize and supervise the implementation of well control readiness. This include, but not limited to, organizing regular well control drills, equipment readiness checks, making sure the personnel involved in well control response is familiar with their duties and responsibilities and well control equipment.
  • Anticipate potential problems and propose alternative strategies to the approval of Drilling Superintendent/Senior Operational Engineer.
  • Review the drilling or workover program prior to the start of operations to ensure that the equipment and personnel on the rig are capable to perform the work and that there are no errors or anomalies in the program. 
  • Report all daily activities and enter well data and cost information in Open-Wells, to ensure complete and correct record of activities with accurate cost Information for future analysis and performance improvement.
  • Manage BOP pressure and function tests, and signoff the test record and pressure charts. Verify the correct BOP certification is available at the rig site, to ensure the Integrity of this critical equipment in accordance with company standards. 
  • Manage rig operations by planning and prioritizing activities and making written instructions for the Drilling Contractor and service Company representatives, to ensure that the program objectives are achieved in an efficient and timely manner and within budget. Provide written handover to back-to back DSV.
  • Ensure rig personnel receive adequate instructions to carry out their task safely and efficiently.
  • Participate in capturing, collating and recording of lessons learned and improvement opportunities, to facilitate continuous performance improvement.
  • Personally inspects all tools and wellhead equipment for size and pressure rating on arrival at the rig site.  Assures that the proper tools and back-ups, if required, are available on location and ready for use.  Ensures that every piece of equipment that enters the hole is measured and that the drillstring length is accurately known.
  • In conjunction with the Drilling Superintendent, plans for the timely arrival of required personnel, materials, equipment and services at the wellsite. Prepares material requisitions for items as required.
  • Supervise and assess all company Contractors involved in the rig operations, to ensure a high quality of work is performed in accordance with company requirements. This shall include assessing and documenting service quality, verifying certification, and compliance documents for all equipment and chemicals delivered to the rig site. 
  • Monitor, train and support new company graduate engineers. This shall include assigning specific tasks to broaden the learning process to ensure effective on-the-job training and development of younger engineers.

What we are looking for: 

Education and Experience:

  • B.Sc degree In an Engineering discipline or equivalent. 
  • IWCF Certified at Supervisor level. 
  • Excellent communication skills in English (demonstrated verbal and written skills)

Skills and Abilities:

  • At least 10years experience in drilling operations including 5 years as an Offshore Drilling Supervisor. Experience in workover operations in gas and horizontal wells is preferred 
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with a good awareness of cultural sensitivities. 
  • Commitment and passion for managing HSE. 
  • Energy and enthusiasm to deliver the targets in an efficient and problem free manner. 
  • Ability to make the correct operational decisions based on systematic analysis with rigorous attention to detail.
