About the Job

Translates and interprets – between local languages and English – written correspondence, articles, and other documents, and during meetings with beneficiaries, the authorities and representatives of other organizations. This is a full-time position for an employment contract of one-year duration with a duty station in Baku.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Interpret in any situation with confidence and accuracy while adapting behaviour and terminology to the various interlocutors.
• Translate official incoming/outgoing correspondence from local languages into English and vice versa.
• Translate external reports .
• Translate dissemination material on protection activities and provide interpretation during dissemination sessions.
• Translate press materials, when necessary.
• Review the quality of translations performed by external firms and make necessary adjustments or recommendations for improvement.
• Treat information with confidentiality and accuracy.

Desired Profile and Skills

• Higher Education (University or Institute - qualified translator)
• 4 years’ work experience in a similar field of activity
• Very good knowledge and fluency in spoken and written English and Azerbaijani. Fluency in Russian is an added advantage.
• Good rigor, method, attention to detail and analytical skills
• Capacity to treat sensitive information with utmost discretion and maintain confidentiality
  - Autonomous and punctual (respect deadlines for translations)
• Capacity to adhere to and implement procedures
• Analysis / summarizing
