About the Job

The Social Media Officer maintains and promotes the ICRC’s visibility and perception through producing and disseminating communication products for the ICRC’s digital/online platforms. He/She will support the Communications Department in promoting the ICRC and its activities to different audiences through campaigns and through day-to-day social media and public communication activities.

Duties and Responsibilities

- Produces innovative content for ICRC social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, notably), in English and Azerbaijani, to help increase respect for and understanding of the ICRC, and to raise awareness about humanitarian issues of concern to the organization.
- Manages social media accounts through using accepted best practices, developing digital projects, and engaging with and delivering content to priority audiences.
- Design and implement a social media strategy that supports the delegation's operational priorities and communication objectives.
- Monitor Search Engine Optimization and web traffic metrics. Conducts evaluation of the success of digital content initiatives after publication and produces social media reports.
- Communicate with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner and monitor target audience reviews.
- Partnering with audiovisual producers, social media leads, web editors and digital officers in other ICRC delegations.
- Identifies and seizes reactive opportunities, running and contributing digital input to quick turn-around campaigns, working internally with communication department and externally with media counterparts.
- Trains, guides and supports colleagues in provision of content for reporting on digital platforms and activities; advises and supports them in their ongoing activities.
- Provides support to other activities of the Communication department, for instance, writing reports, contributing to production of dissemination materials and making presentation for various audiences.
- Monitor digital trends and platform changes and make recommendations on how to improve our digital “customer care” approaches and outcomes.
- Monitors and analyses social media trends and their impact on the organization.
- Leads and/or supports the production of audiovisual material (short films) and visual content (infographics; timelines, etc.) for social media platforms
- Contributes to the production of public communication tools/material (leaflets, web documents, photo galleries, etc.) and proposes/develops new ones when needed.

Desired Profile and Skills

- University degree preferably in Communication, Public Relations, Marketing, Journalism, Social Studies, or a similar field.
- Experience in publishing and effectively engaging followers using social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, etc.).
- Good eye for design and ability to source and do edits with images/video. (Skilled computer user of web publishing and design tools is an added advantage.)
- Fluency in spoken and written English and Azerbaijani. Fluency in Russian is an added asset.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Very good computer literacy; ability to produce audio-video materials.
- Strong knowledge of digital performance metrics and website analytics. Understanding of content marketing is a strong asset.
- Familiarity with search engine optimization (SEO).
- Passion for social media management
- Excellent team-player, self-starter and capacity to work towards multiples objectives and priorities.
- Cultural awareness and commitment to encourage diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
