In March 2015 the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and KBR announced an agreement to establish a new engineering and support services company in Azerbaijan. The legal entity name of the new company is SOCAR-KBR LLC and provides design, engineering, technical, procurement, construction supervision and project management services for projects across the upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas sectors, in the Azerbaijan – Georgia – Turkey (AGT) region. The key objective of this strong partnership is to create a world class Azerbaijan-based EPCm services company that will utilize the strengths of both organisations and deliver top quality results by utilising, developing and promoting Azerbaijani national content. The company has a long term commitment from both organisations.
Primary Role and Responsibilities:
The role of Lead Layout / Piping Designer is to provide direct oversight and control of a team of layout and piping designers responsible for developing the onshore and offshore facilities of the Umid 2 and Babek Development Project. Such facilities currently comprise:
• Onshore Terminal at Dashgil to process and deliver gas and condensate to the local market.
• Umid 2 Offshore Platforms comprising separate bridge linked Process / Drilling and Quarters / Utilities Platforms
• Babek Offshore Platform comprising a single wellhead platform exporting gas / condensate to Umid 2
The design of the above facilities will be developed in 3D CAD software (Aveva E3D) and shall reach a maturity suitable for the Front End Engineering and Design (FEED) phase.
Responsibilities will include development of the design and extraction of material take offs (MTO’s) that will enable the project to move quickly into the EPC phase and early procurement of equipment and materials. As such the design shall be proven from multiple facets including but not limited to:
• Safe layout supporting safe working, access and emergency egress / evacuation
• Operable layout supporting efficient operation and maintenance activities
• A clash free design where all elements are laid out in an efficient manner supporting lowest use of space and minimum weight (particularly relevant offshore)
The design shall meet all normal international standards and shall be developed in close collaboration with all other engineering and design disciplines.
Qualifications:
• Industry recognized engineering and design qualification(s).
Experience Required:
• 15 years plus experience in the design and layout of offshore and onshore facilities in the upstream oil and gas industry. Candidate shall have direct experience of managing teams and shall have a proven track record of working to defined schedules and budgets.
• Experience of construction and offshore and onshore hook up and completions activities is required.
