Tax Counsel

Role and Responsibilities:

• Advise the company on RSA tax regime, local tax laws, reporting requirements, statutory filings,  corporate strategy, transfer pricing and indirect tax and other international taxation needs; 
• Identify risk matters to the company; 
• Communicate with subcontractors of the company on various tax related matters (VAT exemption,  WHT, etc.); 
• Advise on tax and other relevant terms within the contracts the company intends to sign; 
• Liaise with external advisors as needed; 
• Schedule, plan and complete risk-based internal audits; 
• Report and present findings to the business, making recommendations for solutions and improvements  to policies / procedures; 
• Maintain company registers and prepare and submit statutory filings as well as perform other statutory obligations as may be required;
• Attend corporate meetings and keep minutes and other administrative tasks as may be required. 

What we are looking for: 

Education and Experience:

• Be in possession of a university degree in Accountancy, or an equivalent qualification such as ACA or  ACCA; 

Skills and Abilities:

• Have a minimum of 3 years working experience in a similar role (experience at an international audit company is an advantage);
• Be able to work on their own initiative; 
• Be able to work on cross-functional engagements with other departments within the company; 
• Have an excellent command of English; 
• Be self-motivated and possess strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills;
• Strong decision-making and problem solving skills;
• Attention to detail and ability to multitask in a highly dynamic environment;
• Must be a team player;
• Ability to maintain a strict level of confidentiality;
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning.
