QUALITY CONTROL (QC) LEAD ENGINEER

QUALIFICATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

• Higher National Certificate or equivalent in any engineering discipline.
• Membership of a recognised technical institution relevant to our industry.
• Practical experience and knowledge of:
o National and international manufacturing codes and specifications relevant to our industry.
o Destructive and non-destructive testing procedures
o The manufacturing techniques and processes used in our industry
o Quality Assurance and Quality Control specifications, systems and practices.
o At least 10 years experience of inspection and/or expediting in a Project of capital goods environment.
o At least 5 years experience of inspection in the Petrochemical or related industries.
o At least 5 years experience in a management or supervisory position.

BASIC FUNCTIONS

Lead and manage the QC/Inspection activities during the engineering, procurement and manufacturing phases of the project.
Participate in the equipment criticality review meetings.
Participate in the supplier evaluation and pre-qualification activities and provide input to the supplier bid evaluation process prior to recommendation. Carry out shop surveys to assess supplier capability for compliance to PO / project specifications as requested by the Project Procurement Manager.
Plans, develop, implement and manage the QC/Inspection Plans and procedures.
Provide the Project Procurement Manager with the necessary information for allocating manpower, budget and office facilities to execute QC/Inspection activities.
Control and monitor the budget for QC/Inspection activities and highlight adverse trends to the Project Procurement Manager.
Supervise office based QC/Inspection coordination personnel on the project.
Liaise with the Project Quality Manager on quality related matters that may necessitate auditing the supplier’s QMS.
Liaise with the Project Procurement Manager on purchase order related matters.
Liaise with the project Expediting Lead to share information on progress / schedule related matters.
Monitor Supplier HSSE performance and highlight any adverse HSSE matters reported during inspection activities to the Project HSSE Manager
Ensure that all office based and Field QC/Inspection personnel have received a project induction.
Ensure all concession requests and non-conformance reports are logged and tracked in SQS and perform periodic trending reviews.
Monitor the satisfactory close out of actions from Pre-inspection meetings.
Maintain and monitors the project “Carry Over Work” log.
Where applicable, ensure that Third Party inspection activities have been performed and documented in the MDR. Review and endorse the manufacturing data report (MDR) for completeness and technical accuracy.
