Teacher Assistant
Business Faculty, English Language Program,
The major purpose of hiring Teacher Assistants for the English Language Program is to assist young university graduates in their professional development to become qualified full-time English language instructors at Azerbaijan University.
Teacher Assistants have one year, maximum two academic years, to demonstrate their performance and commitment to teaching before they are promoted to a full-time Instructor position.
Duties and Responsibilities of Teacher Assistant:
Assisting the English Program instructors with
a. marking student examinations, tests, and assignments under the supervision of the course instructors;
b. invigilation/proctoring of examinations paired with a Program instructor;
c. providing academic assistance to students during office hours;
d. completing required grade-related paperwork.
e. teaching 4-6 hours a week in cooperation with the full-time instructors of the English Language Program
f. substitution: in emergency cases, the teacher assistant might be asked to substitute a full-time instructor. In such a case, the TA should adequately prepare for in-class instruction.
g. contributing to and participating in Professional Development sessions.
REQUIREMENTS
MA in EFLESL or in related fields, university teaching experiences of at least a year.
