Line Manager: IT Director
 
Description:

The IT Network Manager plans, develops, implements, evaluates and maintains a high-functioning, dependable technological infrastructure for the school that is aligned with the developing needs of the students, teachers, staff and administration. The IT Network Manager coordinates closely with IT Director and school administration to ensure alignment with the educational aims and the academic programs of the school. The IT Network Manager reports to the IT Director.
 
The main responsibilities of IT Network Manager include:
 
Network Operations:

• Analyse the state, effectiveness and suitability of current IT systems and develop a map of IT system development that will meet the evolving needs of the whole school.
• Prioritise and implement the IT system plan, as agreed upon with the school administration.
• Install, upgrade, configure and maintain computers, servers and related equipment to ensure that the computing and network infrastructure performs well in these key application areas: communication/email, IP telephony, internet and Wi-Fi networks, school security cameras, document and data storage, management, sharing, core system backup, virtual learning, educational technology, library cataloguing, business operations, human resources and other applications deemed necessary by school leadership.
• Maintain a user management system that meets the evolving needs of the school.
• Ensure the school is compliant with all relevant data protections laws relating to IT.
• Develop, document, implement and maintain a plan for the protection of key data and IT systems. This includes items such as firewall configuration, cryptographic protocols, virus protection, spam protection, disaster recovery planning, and on-going staff training and awareness-raising.
 
Administrative Computing:

• Prepare and present reports on technology issues as directed by school administration.
• Take responsibility for equipment and software license inventory maintenance, repair and disposal.
• Select, and allocate IT system-related equipment and software within the approved IT strategic plan and budget.
• Develop, communicate and maintain core IT procedures for students, faculty, staff and administration.
 
Educational Technology:

• Work with the IT Director in supporting the educational technologies in the school.
• Participate in the management of software licensing, in collaboration with the IT Director.
• Other similar tasks assigned by the Head of School and/or IT Director.
 
Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in technology or IT management or ITIL certification
• Cisco certification
• Experience with IT management in a medium-sized institution, at least
• Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) qualifications
• Apple certification highly desirable
• SQL Database management expertise
• General leadership experience managing a department or team
• Strong organisational skills
• English fluency
