Position: Sheki-Zakatala Regional Development Project Manager
Location: Baku, Azerbaijan
Date Open: 28 October, 2013
Close date: 15th of November 2013
Position start date: January 1st, 2014
Position End date: June 30th, 2016
Purpose of Project:
Support Integrated and Sustainable Entrepreneurship Development in 6 Districts of Sheki – Zaqatala Economic Region. Permanent job site will be in Sheki.
Project Activities:
-Training of Local Service Providers (LSP) - veterinarians, agronomists and economists to gain more skills and create new opportunities in agriculture sector
-Engage LSPs to train and mentor farmers using combined knowledge and multiplier effect;
-Support to development of entrepreneurship - provide training, mentoring and business start-up grants to selected job seekers and business starters
-Facilitates practicing participatory approach through discussions on priorities, planning process, exchange of ideas with LSPs, farmers, youth and women, support to establish Agro-support Centers in 13 municipalities.
Major Responsibilities of the Project Manager:
To provide overall management to the project implemented by World Vision International in Azerbaijan in 6 districts of the Sheki-Zakatala economic region through strategic planning, funding acquisition, design, implementation, management, local capacity building and monitoring of all project activities and strategies in order to ensure its integration and coordination with other projects in the area, and WV Azerbaijan projects and departments. Serve as a primary representative of the organization with local and international stakeholders in region.
Required Qualification, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
-University degree specialized in economy, agriculture or other related or social field.
-Experience with international NGO performing on a similar position.
-Good Knowledge of major donor (EU) guidelines;
-Previous experience of managing EU/EC funded projects;
-Strong organizational skills, good cross-cultural understanding, communication, presentation, negotiation and conflict resolution skills,
-ability to work in and contribute to team building environment,
-ability to maintain performance expectations in diverse cultural context, psychologically stressful environments and physical hardship conditions within limited resources,
-must be able to communicate ideas within and outside of World Vision, with local government authorities, with major donors, other NGOs and UN agencies,
-excellent knowledge of Azeri and English (verbal and written skills)
Work Environment: Based in Sheki, with intensive travel within the Sheki-Zakatala economic region.
