Position: Information and Communications Officer

Location: Baku, Azerbaijan

Date Open: August 13, 2013

Purpose of position:

• Ensure exploring and accessing innovative fundraising opportunities (with focus on local funding opportunities and public private partnerships) for future growth and financial sustainability of WV International in Azerbaijan. 
• Oversee public relations, marketing and communications resources preparation and dissemination.
• Provide information on projects, country context, and current processes through communicating to World Vision Partnership and external stakeholders that will increase our visibility within and outside World Vision Partnership.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
• Adopt a rigorous approach towards funds acquisition through building relationships with potential donors at different levels and regular screening of opportunities online.
• Develop the relations with potential and existing donors.
• Raise WVAZ profile in the in-country and international corporate environment
• Develop short term and long term local fundraising strategies.
• Develop and implement integrated, strategic directions and plans for communication in WVAZ, within the overall regional Communications strategy.
• Work collaboratively with other WVAZ departments and projects toward realization of WVAZ mission.
• Contribute strongly in decision making processes within the management team to prioritize initiatives and guidance to other teams to be in alignment with Comms area.
• Ensure introduction of new Comms initiatives that will have impact across WVAZ.
• write or assist project staff in writing stories and articles
• Maintain links with sponsors, potential (private) donors, with SOs, and other NGOs / donors for information sharing and gathering.
• Develop and maintain professional contacts and personal relationships with key local print, radio and TV media and assist them by offering story opportunities, arranging project visit and interviews.
• Establish and maintain media relations, including local and international media handling.

Successful candidate should meet the following criteria:

• Minimum University Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism,  Business Administration
• Excellent marketing, communication and public relations skills with strong English and Azeri language capability (written and oral) and ability to clearly communicate complex ideas and principles required
• Knowledge of development work; strategic planning and business plan development skills
• Strong inter-personal communication skills
• Strong presentation and negotiation skills
• Good understanding of general business environment and its local context
• Strong computer skills
• At least 3 years of experience in Business Development and Communications and/or Strategic Fundraising /Marketing field
