Petrophysicist

The job envisages that an employee meets the following qualification requirements:

Education:

- Higher professional education in Geophysical methods of mineral prospecting or appropriate similar specialities

- The minimal previous work experience under the speciality shall be 5 years.

2. Employee’s Responsibilities

The job responsibilities of Petrophysicist are identified on the basis and in the scope of the qualification requirements of Petrophysicist and may be amended and identified according to the Job Description as required.

Job Description:

• The key activities of the Petrophysicist involve: analysis and interpretation of geoscience data, construction of digital petrophysical models and dependencies, provide input for the estimation of hydrocarbon reserves.
• Comply with the RF legislation requirements, established standards of the mineral resources conservation and environmental protection, conditions of license agreements for geological surveys, operation of subsurface facilities for industrial disposal of drilling waste and production water, unrelated to development, and development of oil and gas fields;
• Analyse the results of electric well logging and technological data from the wells and the results of core analyses in the lab;
• Generate digital petrophysical models for determination of formation properties, account and provide input to the analysis of the current state of economic hydrocarbon reserves in the license area;
• Observe occupational, environmental and industrial safety rules, implementation of measures aimed at improvement of working conditions and sanitary and curative measures.
• Provide petrophysical support to drilling operations by providing technical input in the well technical specifications and drilling programs;
• Define open hole and cased hole electric logging programs and well coring programs and to plan the execution of these programs in such a manner that the technical and safety performance of service providers are in compliance with the company’s standards;
• Provide risk assessment and value of information analysis of electric logging and coring activities;
• Perform primary and advanced interpretations of open hole and cased hole electric logging and well coring data and report the results to stakeholders;
• Participate in integrated interpretation of geoscience data of seismic survey and well logging;
• Construct and improve digital petrophysical evaluation models of a field using the Techlog (Techsia) software;
• Provide petrophysical support to integrated reservoir modelling activities
• Provide petrophysical support to oil and gas fields (re-) development planning;
• Provide petrophysical support to the planning and execution of well interventions and reservoir surveillance activities
• Provide petrophysical input to hydrocarbon reserves estimates activities in the license area;
• Collect, process and organize collected petrophysical data, control proper data archival using the approved corporate database systems;
• Ensure regular and periodic reporting on conducted well petrophysical / geophysical exploration and prospecting work;
• Participate in activities related to approving and signing of geological reports and design process documents to the appropriate RF authorities;
• Provide professional advice to the Department personnel in petrophysics
• Exercise control over compliance with the RF legislation requirements, conditions of environmental license agreements related to mineral resources conservation and environmental protection in the course of well logging, coring and development of oil and gas fields;
• Perform work in compliance with the RF legislation requirements, approved standards (norms, rules) of safe work performance, occupational, environmental and industrial safety.

3.  Professional skills and competences:

• Guiding and order documents, methodological and regulatory materials on formation evaluation, well electric logging and development of oil and gas fields;
• Applicable standards, technical specifications, provisions and guidelines for the development and execution of technical documents on geology and development of oil and gas fields;
• Methods of technical calculations and cost-efficiency analysis of research and designs; latest achievements of science and technology, best international and domestic practices in the relevant field of business;
• Prospects of technical development and specifics of the SEIC Technical Directorate;
• Basics of economics, labour and management organisation; fundamentals of labour legislation, rules and norms of labour safety;
• Operation principles, technical parameters, up-to-date computer aids and means of communication.
