The incumbent will be the primary HSE of the operation and assurance that TEZ LOGISTICS’s HSE policy is understood and implemented within the frame of the day-to-day operation.

These duties will include but not be limited to,

  • Develop, assist, support, and monitor the implementation of the HSE strategy.
  • Ensure that the workplace is monitored and in full compliance with all applicable OSHA standards, rules and regulations in order to maintain safety in manufacturing facilities.
  • Ensure the results of safety inspections are documented; monitoring the investigation of accidents and injuries; ensuring that corrective actions are taken; and providing recommendations for ways to prevent similar accidents.
  • To highlight areas where training/certification is required to meet the standards imposed by Legislation, Approved Codes of Practice, or H.S.E. guidance.
  • Ensure that all accident reports are recorded in a timely, complete, and accurate manner where later LESSONS LEARNED exercise are conducted to minimize accident ratios. Identify potential area where potential hazards or near miss accidents/incidents may take place.   Increase HSE ratio on the day-to-day operation.
  • Ensure that an adequate programme of training for health and safety is established and that the safety culture is encouraged amongst employees.
  • Keep up to date with changes in current legislation and to bring to the attention of the Management, any relevant new legislation. Ensure that all “assessments” as required by legislation are conducted and reviewed at relevant intervals and to maintain records of the same.
  • Recommend control measures and advise on the standard of P.P.E. issued to employees.
  • Conduct health and safety inspections and prepare reports of all the company’s operations.
  • Carry out investigations into all accidents and near-miss incidents and to record the findings on the relevant forms.
  • Implement Company’s HSE Policy within the frame of the day-to-day operation.
  • Ensure that statutory comply with TEZ LOGISTICS Policies.
  • Monitor performance indicators (KPI’s) and take appropriate action to ensure compliance. Ensure TEZ LOGISTICS’s HSE systems are in compliance with the Client requirements and that same is rigorously adhered to.
  • Control the HSE of suppliers and subcontractors. Entering and/or operating within the premises of TEZ LOGISTICS

Responsibilities:

Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibilities:

  • To read and understand Client HSE Policy and TEZ LOGISTICS Health, Safety and Environ­mental Protection Policies, Organisation and arrangements.
  • Carry out their job description responsibilities and activities defined in day-to-day operation work processes and operating procedures.
  • Be aware of relevant legislation, codes of practice, guidance notes and good industry practice.
  • To monitor performance in relation to the annual strategic objectives and report this infor­mation to line management.
  • To make sure that safe and environmentally sound methods of work and systems which identify hazards at each place of work on the day-to-day operation
  • Plan, organise and document their work processes to deliver the required standard with minimum risk to personnel, plant, materials or the environment.  Give TEZ LOGISTICS personnel and subcontractors precise instruction in their responsibilities to ensure correct working methods where risk exists in relation to Health, Safety and environmental issues.
  • Be assured of the competence of all personnel working under his responsibility in conducting those work activities for which they are employed and arrange any training required by personnel prior to conducting new activities.

  • Identify any HSE specific training requirements of himself or his personnel.  Encourage personnel to identify and report hazards.
  • Make provision for adequate welfare facilities, protective clothing and equipment and first aid facilities relevant to the work places.
  • Encourage personnel engaged on the contract to develop a concern for the environment and report deviations from good practice.
  • To act immediately on any breach of company rules which come to his attention and where required enforce the company disciplinary process in relation to those breaches.
  • To be alert to any inadequacies of the effectiveness of the management system and to bring such inadequacies to the attention of line management.
  • Ensure representatives of the enforcement authorities are accompanied when visiting a work site under his control.
  • Ensure that accidents / incidents are immediately reported and that validated reports are forward to the Contract Coordinator and Day-to-day operation Manager.

Communication / Reporting:

  • Effectively communicate with the LINE MANAGER and provide regular reports.
  • Participate in the reporting of faults by whichever means available.
  • Participate, in pre task tool briefings.
  • Participate in all aspects of current and future change processes.
  • Participate in Team development events.
