Job scope:

- Establishes and chases execution of appropriate Inspection / NDT plan. Prepares scope of work for major, modular turnarounds. Determines replacement, repair requirements and remaining service life of equipment and piping based on evaluation of inspection findings and operating condition. Provides recommendations with analysis of equipment conditions and corrective/ preventive action.

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Organizes inspection of units and equipment in the assigned production area.
- Ensures continuous control, by inspection engineers, over the observance of technological regimes at all stages of the production processes performed.
- Takes measures to prevent unwanted production interruption, identifies the root causes of non-compliances.
- Prepares technical documentation, certifying the operability of units and equipment.
- Monitors the implementation of the schedules for checking the accuracy of production equipment and tooling, the technical condition of the control and measuring instruments, their availability at the workplace and their timely submission for verification and calibration.
- Participates in activities related to the introduction of new and revision of existing standards, specifications, quality indicators and instructions.
- Carries out all on-stream and shutdown inspection activities for fixed equipment, piping systems, pressure relieving devices and structures with utilizing NDE and modern inspection techniques in a professional way ensuring adherence to company inspection policies and HSE standards.
- Assesses deterioration mechanisms, corrosion rates and investigation of failures to establish Inspection frequencies and corrective actions to prevent recurrences.
- Identifies equipment threats and hazards, and proactively recommend solutions & alert management to maintain the integrity of all equipment.
- Liaises with the corrosion engineer and reliability engineer to collate data on the output of the corrosion monitoring systems, the corrosion inhibitor injection system and advise on execution of Inspection plans accordingly to support integrity and protection of assets.
- Leads the review, updating and implementation of the Risk Based Inspection (RBI) methodology, to enhance plant integrity and reliability.
- Advises on repair techniques, materials selection, welding procedures, inspection, and testing requirements to support process improvements and optimum operations.
- Trains, supports, and develops inspection staff and collaborate with colleagues to fulfill inspection tasks and leads a team of inspectors to cover all assigned activities.
- Participates in various site level audits and identifies areas of concerns and prepares dedicated inspection procedures to follow-up their resolution to improve plant integrity.
- Understands SDM HAOR Quality Policy and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
- Complies with all safety rules and company policies of SDM HAOR.
- Performs various other duties and activities as assigned by Inspection Lead Engineer within the physical constraints of the job.

Skills & knowledge:

Essential

• Sound background in: engineering, process technology, metallurgy, equipment design, and corrosion degradation modes.
• - Inspection of fixed equipment, pressure vessels
• - Piping inspection
• - Inspection of storage tanks
• - NDE inspection and evaluation
• - Pressure tests: hydrostatic, pneumatic, leak test vacuum box, POP test for PSV
• - Familiar with codes and standards such as ASME, AWS, API, NACE, TEMA, ASTM, NBIC.
• - Workshop inspection activities
• - Welding inspection
• - Coating and lining inspection
• - Refractory and insulation inspection
• - Inspection of fired heaters and hydrogen reformers.
• - Awareness and witnessing of inspection modern techniques such as Eddy current & IRIS for heat exchangers, air coolers and fired heaters, MFL inspection for bottom of tanks, GAMA scan for towers, UT leak detectors , hydrogen detectors etc.
• - Thermo vision camera and skin temperatures
• Proficient in reading and interpreting engineering blueprint technical documents.
• Strong communication, organization, troubleshooting analytical and multi-tasking skills.
• Strong technical writing skills.
• Ability to collaborate with others and good team building skills.

Preferred

• Aware of & familiar with issues surrounding high pressure and high H2S facilities, and have managed staff in a similarly challenging high-risk environment.

Minimum qualifications:

Essential

• Bachelor's Degree in a Technical discipline (Engineering or Science)
• Working knowledge of ASME, NACE, and ISO standards.
• ISO 9001:2015 lead auditor certification and auditing experience.
• Experience should be a minimum of 8 years in the oil & gas industry, Upstream/ Downstream particularly in project execution activities.
• Important soft skills include: Strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to listen well, good organizational skills, self motivated to learn, successful experience working as part of a team being comfortable with change and being able to respond rapidly to it. Results oriented.

Preferred

• Solid understanding reliability maintenance, and the use of operational and condition monitoring data to develop preventative maintenance strategies

• 4 CSWIP 3.1 41001 welding inspector

• 6 RT LEVEL II Radiographic testing
• 7 UT LEVEL II Ultrasonic testing
• 8 MT LEVEL II Magnetic Particle testing
• 9 PT LEVEL II Liquid penetrant testing
• 10 VT LEVEL II Visual test
• 11 NACE CIP LEVEL I 36818 Coating and painting inspector

Other requirements:

Essential

• General computer skills for preparing documents and use of spreadsheets for compiling and analyzing data.
