Weapon Contamination (WeC) Field Officer - Location in BARDA

About the Job

The ICRC is involved in conducting risk awareness and safer behaviour (RASB) to civilians affected by mines, explosive remnants of war, shooting and shelling. The ICRC plans to expand this capacity and cover the increasing needs of providing safety advice to affected populations. The WeC Field Officer will work as part of a transversal team to deliver RASB sessions, develop communication material and conduct trainings. This is a full-time position for an employment contract of one-year duration with a duty station in BARDA.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Develop a thorough understanding of the weapon contamination situation and an in-depth knowledge of the WeC stakeholders.
• Develop a thorough understanding of Movement guidelines on risk awareness and safer behaviour and ensure their respect during implementation.
• Support implementation of WeC activities, notably risk awareness and safer behaviour through direct sessions in communities and schools.
• Development of RASB communication material.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on the impact of WeC interventions.
• Provide training and support to ICRC and RC/RC Movement staff and volunteers.
• Analyse and evaluate internal and external data linked to project objectives.

Desired Profile and Skills

• Higher Education (University or Institute)
• 3-5 years’ work experience in the field of weapon contamination / mine action.
• Instructor / teaching experience an advantage.
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Azerbaijani.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• High level of computer literacy (especially on Microsoft Word And Excel).
• Demonstrated ability to establish effective working relationships at all levels both internally and externally.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work calmly under pressure.
• Capacity to treat sensitive information with utmost discretion and maintain confidentiality
