Survey Engineer

Work Location: Offshore Construction Vessel

Education: Higher education;
Work Experience: Minimum 2-5 years of experience as a Surveyor / Survey Engineer;
Knowledge of Languages: Azerbaijani (fluent), English (fluent).

Other Skills/Certificates Required:

Basic knowledge of electric and electronic equipment;
Knowledge of Geodesy, Hydrography and Marine Ecosystem;
Understanding of the main features of the materials to be treated;
Knowledge of Subsea Intervention Work Stability, Subsea Inspection Methods, ROV Instrumentation and Operations;
Knowledge of techniques with Total Station and GPS RTK;
Good team-working, analysis, problem solving, results orientation and communication skills; 
Proficiency in standard software for PC such as MS Office;

Responsibilities:

• Ensure installation, interface, operation and maintenance of survey systems, both online and offline, ensuring that the systems are installed and interfaced correctly from a survey point of view;
• Ensure the checking and update of survey software;
• Be able to substitute the online surveyor;

Carry out the activities in compliance with:

• IMCA C004 (Competence Assurance and Assess.: Offshore Survey Division);
• IMCA S005 (Academic Requirement for Surveyors Working in the Offshore Survey Sector);
• Implement Project procedures and Company Work Instructions;
• Plan vessel mobilizations together with Online Surveyor and Party Chief;
• Install, test and operate survey, navigation and peripheral devices which may include, but not be limited to: GPS receivers, Differential correction receivers, Navigation computer systems for survey and acquisition (preferably EIVA software), PC peripherals including printers, logging devices, remote monitors, data links, Echo-sounder systems (MBES, SBES), Gyrocompasses, vessel and ROV mounted, Motion reference systems, vessel and ROV mounted, Cross profiler systems, DHSS or MBES, ROV mounted, Pipetracker systems, ROV mounted, Acoustic positioning systems e.g. LBL/USBL, including the Wideband Sonardyne technology, Doppler Logs (ROV mounted), Digital video systems, Installation of vessel network systems;
• Ensure safe installation of survey systems and cabling in order to do not represent a hazard to others;
• Conduct observations of seawater parameters in order to determine the speed of sound in seawater, and apply resulting speed of sound values in USBL and LBL systems;
• Analyse and interprete data obtained through various software packages and hardware systems from survey devices as mentioned above;
• Ensure the maintenance of clear and accurate online survey logs and records generated, ensuring clear and accurate annotation of data;
• Ensure that continuous recording of good quality survey data is maintained;
• Produce survey element of daily reports to Project Managers and Clients;
• Assist Land Surveyor with the execution of land surveys using Total Station and Global Positioning Systems (GPS);
• Assist with the execution of DGPS health checks and gyro calibrations;
• Perform acoustic and metrologyoperations together with the (Online) Surveyor, ensuring that all systems are prepared and deployed correctly and that detailed records are maintained of transponder deployments and battery counts;
• Conduct regular maintenance of both online and standby equipment in order to ensure immediate readiness at all times;
• Maintain an accurate inventory of all survey equipment, spares and consumables, ensuring that consumables are maintained at suitable levels.
