Job Title: Customs & Freight Sr. Specialist

Job Summary

Customs & Freight Senior Specialist are responsible for routing incoming and outgoing communication regarding freight shipments and transportation needs for clients. Responsible for the Customs and Global Transportation services including the rating and routing of inbound and outbound international shipments. The Customs & Freight Senior Specialist is the responsible and knowledgeable individual through which the global logistics activity is managed to meet on-time deliveries at right cost. Process shipping and receiving reports by entering data into spreadsheets and electronic databases. Other duties includes obtaining freight offers from approved freight forwarding companies, calculation of profit margin in coordination with Accounting Department along with Sales Departments, filing freight and transportation documentation, distributing related e-mail’s and other related correspondence. Maximize delivery efficiency and customer satisfaction. Customs & Freight Senior Specialist will be temporarily reporting to company CEO with further reporting to Operations Manager. The duties and responsibilities may change from time to time without notice and include but is not limited to the duties described below.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordinates shipments to customers and maintains on time delivery performance. Oversees outgoing finished product shipments.
• Reviews and prepares necessary documentations for approvals all proposed international shipments and receipt of goods; ensures compliance with Foreign Trade and Export/Import Compliance regulations/requirements and assures that the freights is in compliance with Azerbaijan/US Customs/ITAR/EAR regulations.
• Prepares documentation for export/import approval with supporting documentation to include the analysis of shipping quotes, method of shipping, the necessary bonds, permits, import licensing, tariffs, Dangerous Goods, ECCN, equipment classification, Carnets, foreign agent and custom clearances as required.
• Maintains recordkeeping/shipping databases reflecting weights, dimensions, agent information, customs and duties regulations, and all shipping related information including EDD, ADD, EDA, ADA, T/T, etc.
• Negotiates favorable rates for both outbound and inbound freight.
• Acquire and maintain skills and knowledge necessary to efficiently process orders through the manifest system, process all paperwork, troubleshoot and resolve issues, and continually review ways to improve Customs & Freight process.
• Coordinates with and supports Contracts/Legal, Procurement, Sales, Operations, Global Logistics, Customs Brokers, Freight Forwarders, Haulers, Carriers, Third Party Logistics Service Providers, Shipping and other departments/business related parties necessary to ensure appropriate import/export logistics and global customs-trade compliance.
• Reviews contracts, purchase orders and letters of credit regarding proper shipping documentation required for shipment and payment.
• Perform other duties as assigned by Line Manager.

Requiremants:

- Minimum 3 years’ experience in related field within logistics operations, including shipping and international transactions of import/export and Customs regulations.
- MS’s and/or BA diploma in engineering, finance, economy or equivalent.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, customer service and time management skills.
- Ability to work with little or no supervision.
- Understanding of freight forwarding/logistics operations requirements.
- Knowledge of HSE safety guidelines and practices.
- Knowledge and proficient implementation skills in software tools such as Microsoft Office and other database applications specifically in MS Excel.

Skills:

Familiar with Global Trade-Customs, import/export and Foreign Trade concepts, practices, and regulatory requirements. Fully knowledgeable of the licensing process including specific requirements of the Azerbaijan State Customs Regulations, US. Departments of State, Commerce and Treasury and regulations and laws applicable to international trade, Licensed Customs Broker/Certified Customs Specialist, knowledge of ERP, WMS systems. Ability to use project manager tools such as “Asana”. Experience in freight forwarding and logistics operations will be considered as advantage. Good team skills to be able to work with others. Ability to fully carry out instructions. Multitasking ability. Excellent verbal, written, interpersonal and negotiation skills are required for effective interface with all internal and external contacts.

Salary: 1000-1200 AZN Net
