The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) is an impartial, neutral and independent organization whose exclusively humanitarian mission is to protect the lives and dignity of victims of war and internal violence and to provide them with assistance. It directs and coordinates the international relief activities conducted by the Movement in situations of conflict. It also endeavours to prevent suffering by promoting and strengthening humanitarian law and universal humanitarian principles. Established in 1863, the ICRC is at the origin of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement.

The ICRC Delegation in Azerbaijan is seeking candidate, male or female, for the position of:

Field Officer (Reviewer) Grade 5

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Reviews and corrects Questionnaires in Azerbaijani and Russian languages for discrepancies/inaccuracies in content and translation (quality control)
• Provides regular oral and written feedback on the problems encountered, and make suggestions so as to improve the quality of Questionnaires
• According to a profile and upon request, carries out other tasks such as: writing minutes of the meetings (in English); interpreting during meetings and trainings; making field trips to the regions; receiving families of missing persons and referring them to relevant instances; making researches on various issues of interest for the ICRC (i.e. humanitarian environment)
• Assists Biological Reference Sample Collection team
• Performs various data processing on a specific software (anti-mortem/post-mortem database), necessary training will be provided
• Works as a data entry operator at the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, when requested
• Provides solutions to a wide range of problems to the manager
• Makes written reporting on the activities carried out by him/her
• Translates institutional and non-institutional documents, when requested

REQUIRED QUALIFICATION:

• University education (a diploma in Political Sciences, International Relations, Public Administration or in Law would be an asset)
• 4 years’ work experience in a similar field of activity
• Fluency in spoken and written English and Azerbaijani, very good knowledge of Russian
• Very good computer literacy
• Good rigor, time management, analysis and attention to details
• Excellent team worker
• Good knowledge of the political, social and cultural assigned environment

This is a full-time position with a duty station in Baku.
