Job Title:  Senior Piping Engineer in RDS
 
Location:  Baku, Azerbaijan

A vacancy available only for Azerbaijan citizens has arisen for a Senior Piping Engineer who is responsible for provision of piping engineering services to RDS and supervision within the piping engineering team.

Primary responsibilities of the role are (but not limited to):

• Knowledge of, and compliance with, KCA DEUTAG Management Systems along with, client, industry and international specifications/ standards.
• Supervision of discipline personnel under own control, and for the quality of work produced by these discipline personnel.
• Ensure recognised off-shore engineering practices applicable to piping design and plant layout is adopted.
• Production of cost effective engineering solutions that are fit for purpose, safe and add value to both RDS and the Client.  Motivation of discipline personnel allocated to own area of responsibility to do similarly.
• Exercise guidance to staff in the maintenance & preparation of piping materials, valve & SP Item specifications for the client to purchase required materials.
• Apply good interpersonal skills, liaising across the organisation with members of other disciplines and departments.
• As delegated by the Lead Piping Engineer, organise and manage all aspects of the workload of a team of piping discipline engineers and designers, within the parameters of a project schedule.
• As delegated by the Lead Piping Engineer, establish a list of discipline deliverables, control, monitor and progress these deliverables to an agreed schedule.
• Exercise guidance to staff in the maintenance & preparation of piping materials, valve & SP Item specifications for the client to purchase required materials.
• Apply good interpersonal skills, liaising across the organisation with members of other disciplines and departments.
• Originating engineering documentation for allocated workscopes, e.g. calculations, design reports and specifications, and checking similar documentation and workpacks created by others.
• Ensuring operational and maintenance issues are addressed in the design.  Seeking input from operations and maintenance personnel.
• Surveys, both onshore and offshore, to determine information to allow execution of workscopes.
• Raising requisitions for purchase of engineered items and services, as directed by the Lead Piping Engineer.
• Execution of work within manhour budget and time schedule.
• Early identification to the Lead Discipline Engineer of areas of concern during the course of any project or study with necessary corrective action identified.
• Checking engineering content of design deliverables for allocated workscopes, e.g. drawings, bills of material.
• Review of Supplier / Vendor documents. 
• Technical input to procurement and QA activities e.g. Technical Bid Evaluation, Criticality Rating
• Identification of increase or reduction in scope of work and advising the Lead Discipline Engineer accordingly.
• Following discipline procedures for document control and use and retention of check prints / IDC comments prints as directed by the Lead Discipline Engineer.
• Representation of KCA Deutag with Clients and Suppliers / Vendors in a professional manner.
• Assistance to the Lead Discipline Engineer as directed.

Skills and Experience:

• HNC / NVQ in discipline preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years piping design engineering experience in O&G industry for offshore and or subsea projects.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in piping design engineering supervisory role in oil and gas.
• A thorough knowledge of the regulations, codes and standards and a good understanding of offshore engineering practices applicable to equipment layout and piping design for oil and gas facilities.
• Extensive current design experience is required in piping engineering, pipe supports, equipment layouts and detailed piping design, all gained with notable design contractors and/or oil/gas companies within the petrochemical industry particularly with respect to offshore oil and gas installations.
• Sufficient knowledge of piping materials to guide staff in the preparation of piping, valve and SP Item specifications and subsequently ensure purchase to required standards.
• Proficient user of Autocad.
• Ability to check piping deliverables in a 2-D and 3-D environment.
• Drilling Facilities experience advantageous.
• Formal training in AutoCAD.
• Excellent oral and written English.
• Good communications and leadership skills.
