Job Title: Rig Manager Assistant

Location: Azerbaijan, Onshore Base Office

A vacancy, available for Azerbaijani citizens, has arisen for an Assistant Rig Manager as part of the Offshore Business Unit. The
Assistant Rig Manager will work under the supervision of the designated Rig Manager to assist with the efficient and cost
effective management and control of operations on the drilling installation and for the safety of all persons working thereon.

Key Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

• Assist the Rig Manager to manage the operations assigned to them and ensure that they meet contractual, financial,
quality and performance criteria.
• Assist the Rig Manager in ensuring that all well programmes are executed properly, efficiently, safely and in
accordance with Group / Client standards, processes and procedures as well as relevant Country regulations /
guidelines.
• Liaise at all times with their Rig Manager/Operations Manager on all key issues in a timely and appropriate manner.
• Assist the Rig Manager in conducting technical appraisals of drilling and work-over programmes, ensuring that any
improvements, concerns or remedial actions required, are brought to the attention of the client.
• Provide advice and guidance to the Senior Offshore Rig Supervisors and onshore support team where appropriate.
• In accordance with group process / procedure, ensure accurate recording / reporting and follow up of all events
including HSE and NPT accidents/incidents.
• Assist with pre-spud / end-of-well / review / investigation meetings, ensuring that complete reporting is undertaken and
that all learning points are brought to the attention of management, client and recorded within the company learning
systems.
• Assist the Rig Manager in reviewing the performance evaluation of the personnel on the operating unit and supporting
office and field supervisors with human resource rationalisation / utilisation and development.
• Drive performance improvement by assisting with investigations and remedial actions on equipment, structural or
system failures affecting the operating unit under his authority.
• Assist to ensure the timely requisition of all materials, equipment and services to the correct specification for the
execution of well operations, project work-scopes and upgrades where applicable.
• Assist the Rig Manager to ensure all required industry / company standards / certification / inspection and auditing is
up to date. Planning repair and remedial works as required.
• To stand-in as acting Rig Manager as and when required.
• Assist the Rig Manager in monitoring and improving the financial and operational performance of the operating unit.
• To produce monthly, routine and ad-hoc reports (as required) and distribute within the company. E.g. Monthly
Performance Reports for the operating unit / country. Ensuring that all contractual performance related KPI are
monitored and progress against these is reported.

Key Skills/Qualifications:

• A dynamic, forward thinking individual with the ability to work on his own initiative and as part of a team.
• Proven experience (office and field based) advising or working at a supervisory level in cyber drilling operations. E.g.
Toolpusher, Drilling Engineer, DSV.
• Understanding of drilling and completion design / implementation / equipment including that provided by service
companies. E.g. Wireline, logging, coiled tubing, fluids, casing, cementing, directional drilling and MWD/LWD, etc.
• Experience in working with and supervising diverse teams of people in a safety critical environment.
• Valid Well Control certificate - IWCF Level 4 (Supervisor).
• Excellent Communication and Presentation skills; English (spoken and written) and Computer skills.
