Position Summary:

The Vibrator Technician is to ensure vibrators and associated equipment are properly maintained in a cost efficient manner and are properly documented.  He/she is responsible to organize day to day operations with recording crew and training of vibrator personnel.
Positions reporting to this position: Mechanics, Junior Mechanics, and all persons related to the Vibrator Department    

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

- Ensure that GEOK policies and procedures are assessed and adhered to where applicable to the region to ensure standardization to the extent possible
- Provide personal leadership and support needed by those reporting to this position so that your employees feel that they receive the required leadership necessary to complete their responsibilities.
- Through personal example and open communication demonstrate commitment to the vision and management processes of GEOK to staff throughout the organization.
- Maintain and extend a pattern of accountability and high performance, along with a passion for success throughout all operations in GEOK.
- Have a good understanding of the cost of parts and repairs so maintenance cost will remain more on a constant when jobs are permitted.
- Ensure that the health and safety of employees is protected and valued throughout the organization.
- Ensure that the protection of the environment is a priority in the organization so that GEOK is perceived as a company who cares for the environment while going about its’ business.
- Ensure that managers are satisfied with the availability of information required for operation of equipment.
- Ensure all daily maintenance is performed by vibe personnel to their given equipment assignments so that equipment remains in good condition.
- Ensure all monthly checks are performed, repairs and damages are recorded in database. This list is then forwarded to the office of that division to be filed and to keep database up-to-date.
- Maintain a monthly inventory of parts and specific assets in the vibrator so that parts that are necessary are available and assets are accounted for.
- Inspect vibrator quality by visually inspecting wireless, SERQC, and Vibra-Sig Data on a daily basis if possible so that vibrators meet Geokinetics quality standards.
- Assist in crew start-ups, QC procedures, helping with Zero time, Radio Ref. delay adjustments and Polarity verification.
- Assist in the quality staffing and succession of vibe operators
- Ensure that training and development occurs to meet crew needs.

Education & Experience:

- Mechanical Qualification or equivalent experience in similar jobs.
- Mechanical back ground in Heavy Duty Equipment (6X6) and 4X4 trucks. North American or European standard First Class ticket, OR Courses towards acquiring same
-  Minimum 5 years Vibrator mechanical experience on Sercel and/or I/O vibrators.
- Other attributes such as arc welding, oxygen and acetylene torch knowledge, along with electrical and electronic know how/Sercel and other Vibrator Electronics.
- Experience in Land, TZ, OBC and OBN projects
- Experience with continues Recording and Simultaneous Source acquisition

Knowledge & Skills Requirements:

- Competencies for the role are referenced in the Integrated QHSE Management System Training Frame Guidelines. For this role, the competencies that are required include Level B for all staff.

o Good knowledge in Mechanics (mechanical hydraulic and pneumatic systems), Electronics and radio communication

- ADVANCED VIBRATOR CARD
- ADVANCED VIBRATOR OPERATOR
- CERTIFIED AS GEOKINETICS ADVANCED VIBRATOR OPERATOR
- VIBRATOR HAZARDS AND RISKS LEVEL ”A”
- VIBRATOR HAZARDS AND RISKS LEVEL ”S”

QHSE Competencies:

- Competencies for the role are referenced in the Integrated QHSE Management System Training Frame Guidelines. For this role, the competencies that are required include Level #.
- Must abide by and enforce all Geokinetics Policies including but not limited to HSE, Drug & Alcohol, Operational Policies, IAGC, OGP, Client, Local & State Governmental Policies.
- Know and implement the policies of GEOKINETICS on quality, production, safety, protection to environment and costs and verify its fulfillment.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions & Hazards:

- Satisfactorily complete the medical examination (UKOA or similar)
- Stand, walk and sit
- Use of hands to grasp, handle and lift.
- Seismic work is highly risky. Working environment may be in normal office conditions or open areas exposed to weather. Seismic work is conducted in a variety of environments, including swamps, snow, steep mountains, jungles, and deserts. It employs explosives, boats, helicopters and other vehicles.
- The QHSE manager reviews that each crew and project has the specific hazard register for the work conducted. Use PPE accordingly.
- Outdoor conditions on open sea (weather, sea conditions, high winds)
- Exposure to hazards such as high pressure air, loud noise, fumes, suspended load, pinch points.
