REPORTING TO: In Country Manager HOURS OF WORK: As per contract
 


MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB:

Conducting surveillance of Contractors QC Activities to ensure that the activities are conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Contract, Quality Plan and the Inspection & Test Plans

 


• Demonstrate HSE leadership by actively engaging the BP site team and construction contractors with actions that contribute to delivering on BP’s HSE expectations
• Monitor Contractors QC programs and personnel for full compliance.
• Monitor Contractors Inspection & Test Plans are fully met.
• Conduct & report surveillance of the Contractors activities, and of the Contractors QC activities.
• Ensure that the Hold and Witness points identified within the Inspection & Test Plans are implemented.
• When required, participate in quality audits and assessments on the main contractor or their subcontractors.
• Attend site QC meetings ensuring Company quality requirements are fully discussed.
• Source the relevant metrics data for the key quality indicators.
• Make recommendations for quality improvements.
• Participate in the endorsement of Contractors QC personnel required for site.
• Aid construction discipline engineers on quality related issues.
• Monitor the performance of special process control activities, to ensure that the activities are conducted by appropriately qualified operators and that the process is conducted in accordance with the approved Procedure.
• Review the performance of Contractors personnel undergoing trade training, and ensure that the competency assessment process is rigorously implemented.

QUALIFICATIONS / TRAINING:

• Senior Welding Inspector - CSWIP Level 3.2.2. or 3.2.1 with rad interpretation CSWIP or PCN Level 2
• Expertise in comprehending, interpreting, and communicating quality specifications,  fabrication drawings, welding procedures & specifications, and inspection reports
• HNC Engineering - Fabrication [preferable]
• Proficient in the use of MS Excel and MS Word
• Ability to perform effectively in a team environment, inclusive of demonstrating collaborative, cooperative, flexible, adaptable, respectful, and tactful personal characteristics
• Excellent work and personal ethics that include trustworthiness, commitment, and empathy
• Confident, creative, and energetic approach to addressing all quality-related issues
• Competent in effectively communicating in both verbal and written English
• Physical ability to walk, climb, and otherwise access construction work locations

 

EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience on  QC activities applicable to oil & gas onshore and/or offshore facilities and equipment including:
o welding and NDT
o structural fabrication
o pipe fabrication, assembly, and flange management
o coatings (preferable)
• Minimum of 2 years’ experience on conducting and/or participating in external and internal quality audits
