Night Manager

Lead the Front Office team  and all operational departments - on the overnight shift - and manage all areas of the departmental operations, including: scheduling, ordering supplies, attending meetings, communicating information and ensuring that all procedures and service principles are performed to the Hotel's standards. Daily functions will include assisting with the daily responsibilities of a Front Desk Agent as well as managing the daily operations.  Provide exceptional service to all guests, associates, and owners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To be readily available at all times to deal with a problem or a complaint.
• To ensure that late arrivals are checked in correctly, allocated a room and their luggage sent to their room without delay.
• To ensure that late arrivals are aware of facilities available at night.
• To distribute and check work between Night auditors and night audit of business data.
• To ensure that Room Service orders are prepared to the required standards and served promptly, professionally and courteously.
• To ensure that the night cleaning associates are carrying out the duties allocated to them.
• To re-arrange rosters and duties in the event of illness or absenteeism.
• To ensure strict security measures are in operation and no unauthorized person has access to any part of the hotel.
• To ensure that no unruly or rowdy behavior persists and to take the appropriate measures in the event of unreasonableness by any guests or associates.
• To ensure that all restaurants and banqueting areas are properly secured after the close of business.
• To ensure that all cash and all keys are securely locked away.
• To ensure that kitchens which have been closed down for the night have been checked, and that no equipment is left on, particularly deep fryers.
• To maintain the highest standards of personal appearance and hygiene, as well as ensuring that night associates are correctly and smartly dressed.
• To ensure that associates are working and performing their duties correctly and not "sleeping on the job". To ensure that the night maid is performing her required duties.
• To check all public areas, including cloakrooms, to ensure they have been cleaned and serviced correctly.
• To ensure that breakfast preparations are on time and that orders for early breakfasts have been effected.
• To complete a night report detailing complaints, emergencies, incidents, maintenance or security needs, as well as a summary of action taken. To ensure that notice boards have been updated for the coming day's business.   

REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 3 years working experience in hospitality or tourism related industry, preferable in Front Office operations at a five star luxury hotel.
• Minimum 1 year experience in a similar capacity as a supervisor or manager in a luxury hotel.
• A graduate of Hotel School would be an added advantage.
• Solid experience in Front Office including Front Desk, Night Audit, PBX, Reservations, and Guest Services.
• Possess strong interpersonal skills.
• Able to motivate a team of employees and possess excellent attention to detail.
• Able to handle the stress of a deadline.
• Able to think independently and possess good judgment and decision making abilities.
• Assure guest expectations are exceeded through proper employee training.
• Demonstrate an ability to lead by example.
• Experience in training, cross-training and developing employees.
• Fluent English.
