Commodities Trading and Marketing Specialist

The international company specializing in commodities trading seeks highly talented and motivational young professionals to join their trade & supply team as a commodities trading and marketing specialist. The company is looking for high caliber individuals to join their existing team, who will have strong track record of individual PNL accountability, proven global sales and supply capabilities and great potential to study new markets and build new business opportunities from scratch. The ideal candidate should have an exceptional eye for identifying the existing business and trade patterns, the unique opportunities and trends and be able to use the insights gained from in-depth market research and analysis to trade actively and generate proprietary trading income in the global markets.

Principal Accountabilities

• Analyze market information and trends on a daily basis to identify price/margin optimization opportunities along the supply chain.
• Build and manage relationships with existing & new suppliers and customers in global markets.
• Initiate and conclude trades, implement hedging strategies and manage price risks, all within specific limits.
• Participate in the development of supply optimization strategies with the broader supply team.
• Develop controlled low-risk trading strategies which leverage the existing system and assets for additional profitability.
• Understand and recognize the value of diverse commodity portfolios, marine and inland logistics, infrastructure and blending opportunities.
• Monitor and hedge trading positions on a continuous basis. Report price exposure and profitability via daily exposure and P&L report to immediate supervisor/management. Reconcile these reports with the trading and risk middle office
• Review and negotiate commercial and operational contractual terms &conditions on purchase and sale agreements
• Some oversight of and involvement in operations will be required during the initial phases of development of an active trading business. This includes for example:
- Monitoring of quantity gains/losses during transit
- Checking of product quality at both load and discharge against contractual guarantees and expected typical specifications
- Maintaining detailed and well organized contractual files
- Help resolve any issues arising due to payment arrangements, scheduling or collection of completed contracts

Requirements

• Expert command of international business fundamentals, supply, demand, pricing mechanisms, logistics, regulations, operations and contractual terms used in purchase/sale of commodities.                      
• A minimum of 3 years of experience in international commodities trading will be decisive in shortlisting the successful candidates. Experience must include product sourcing/selling and directly managing a trading book.    
• Knowledge and experience in derivatives / hedging transactions is desirable. 
• Bachelor’s degree with high GPA, preferably but not essentially, in Petroleum Engineering/Commerce/ Business Management/Economics or other relevant disciplines requiring great analytical skills. A Master’s degree is desirable but not required. Holders of degrees from reputable European universities will be given priority.
• Proven ability to develop and successfully execute trading strategies based on in-depth market   analysis.
• Strong leadership and work ethic, exceptional organizational, analytical and numerical skills.
• Professional presence and strong interpersonal skills. At ease in multicultural environment and able to work collegially at all levels in the organization. Must be able to work out of office hours and regularly travel.
• Self-motivated, results driven, and having the ability to work effectively under pressure while maintaining good judgment.
• Complete fluency in English and Russian (oral and written).
