Groups Sales Manager - MICE
 
Manages sales of the company’s products and services in within a defined geographic area, province or country. Ensures consistent, profitable growth in sales revenues through positive planning and management of sales activities throughout the year. Identifies objectives, strategies and action plans to improve short- and long-term sales and earnings.
 
Directly reporting to the Director of Sales and Marketing, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

Position Responsibilities
               
• Develop, solicit, cultivate and grow new business within the MICE market. This will include utilizing various efforts (planned client calls, cold calling, telemarketing, mailing, referrals, etc.) to maximize corporate room revenue to meet/exceed goals.
• Undertake research to proactively seek business for need periods
• 60% of all time must be spent directly on making outside corporate sales.
• Negotiate guest room rates, meeting room rental, function space, and hotel services within approved booking guidelines. Confirm in writing to the client all requirements approved contracts.
• Completion of contracts, preparation of the appropriate paperwork and coordination of appropriate areas within the hotel, resolution of issues, complaints, and/or problems to ensure quality product delivery and customer satisfaction.
• Monitor Group Pace, Business on the Book and other reports to develop, if necessary, an action plan to maximise revenue.
• Obtain and enter all group rooming lists and related details in a timely manner and according to the instructions received from group organizers, and as per contract
• Advise Director of Marketing and Sales on all matters relating to group sales to maintain an open line of communication and harmony among departments
• Assist the Director of Sales & Marketing with the implementation and achievement of the annual Business Plan.
• Schedule and conduct in-house meetings with prospective customers; develop a marketing strategy by analyzing hotel/market trends and creating selling strategies to capture the maximum amount of revenue to meet/exceed sales goals
• Conduct tours of the hotel and banquet facilities; entertain qualified potential clients in accordance with company and property policies and procedures
• Actively participate in all S&M activities: hotel events, Sales blitzes, site inspections, events of community and professional organizations etc.
• Attend trade shows, sales trips, industry functions both locally and beyond
• Responsible for acquiring and maintaining a solid base of MICE accounts to attain a high level of occupancy and level of profitability.
• Maintenance of accurate, legible records and files to provide account history to ensure future and current quality service and enhance future prospects.
• Prepare individual sales action plan for each corporate account (monthly when requested).
• Review daily arrivals, internet, directories, etc. for future potential business as well as proper tracking.
• Generate new ideas for new promotions, partnerships/strategic alliances to build visibility and revenue opportunities.
• Provide operations staff up-to-the-minute information regarding promotions and specific accounts.
• Maintain contact with historical and lapsed clients to re-ignite a relationship.
• Be able to evaluate production reports & prepare a plan of actions to increase bookings & revenue.
 
Position Requirements 
 
• Minimum of two or more years of relevant experience in a five-star hotel in Baku.
• Excellent command of the English, Azerbaijani and Russian languages is a must
• Professional written and verbal communications and interpersonal skills, along with poise in public speaking
• Comfortable with corporate-style administration work (e.g. sales activities, action plans, communication with clients etc.)
• Familiarity with both travel industry and hospitality public relations programs and opportunities within the local region
• Degree from an accredited university in Business, Sales, Hospitality, Marketing or a related field
• IT Skills – Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Must enjoy working with the electronic medium
• Must be organized and meticulous with attention to detail
• Driven, enthusiastic, outgoing and creative
• A resourceful and independent worker with initiative and ability to juggle multiple deadlines
• Work well under pressure and comfortable working with colleagues in different countries
• Ability to work independently
