Piping Designer

1. Job Objective

• Executing assigned scopes of work within budget and schedules.
• Providing discipline expertise to the business.
• Responsible for the layout, design and specification of equipment for Piping for both Offshore Oil and Gas and Onshore facilities and their related infrastructure.

2. Key Accountabilities

• Adhere to and comply with relevant discipline specific Procedures and provide feedback for continuous improvement.
• Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development.
• Provide discipline support to the business.
• Provide discipline input to scope definition and execution.
• Deputising for Senior as required.
• Executing assigned personal objectives.
• Travelling to local site locations for design and/or construction assistance.
• Carry out work in accordance with Scopus and project health, Safety, Enviromental and Quality systems.

3. Performance Indicators

• Agree personal career development plan with Head of Piping Discipline (Piping Discipline Focal Point).
• Ensure personal performance management progress including continual professional development.
• Competency profile attainment against plan.
• Effective delivery of assigned work scopes in accordance with Engineering & Design Process and Procedures.

4. Communication & Working Relationships

Internal:  

• Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate across the project/contract interfaces.
• Engage with inter-discipline Community and promote Discipline including: Networking/knowledge sharing.

External:

• Establishing and/or maintaining an awareness of external stakeholders including: Industry bodies, academia, vendors, client interface (as appropriate and requested).

5. Level of Influence & Decision Making Authority

• As delegated by Lead/Discipline Focal Point in accordance with Competency Assessment.

6. Qualifications, Experience & Skills

Minimum Qualifications:

• HNC MEng or equivalent professional qualification

Or

• HNC MEng or equivalent with relevant considerable experience

Minimum Experience:

• Minimum of 4 years  of relevant design experience

General Skills:

• Intellectually capable, can substantiate  the ability to apply theory in a practical context
• Professional demeanour, interpersonal skills
• Able to demonstrate team working skills
• Enthusiastic, conscientious and keen to learn
• Flexible with a can-do attitude
• Previous experience in Oil & Gas is desirable.

Job-Specific Skills:

• Basic Piping  Design Skills
• Familiar with the relevant Piping Design Codes/Standards ie.  ASME B31:3 Latest Edition Process Piping, ANSI B16:5 Pipe Flange & Fittings etc.
• Onshore Modifications (Brownfield Engineering)
• Topsides Modifications (Brownfield Engineering)
• New Topsides
• Conceptual Studies
• Basic Draughting Skills
• Effective verbal and written English communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in a multi-discipline team.
• Proven experience using AutoCad 2013 and knowledge of 3D design/drafting software.
• Completing studies with a focus on providing recommendations for technical solutions.
• Working knowledge of requirements for incorporating safety, maintainability and operation into a design.
