Media, Communication and Campaign Officer

Oxfam GB is looking to recruit a highly motivated individual for the position of  Media, Communication and Campaign Officer. The post holder will be base in Baku  office.

Key activities:

• Develop and deliver a Media, Advocacy and Communication Strategy to support the influence and impact of the Oxfam Azerbaijan programme  internally and externally
• Conducting communication with stake-holders, general public, partners, key players, and media to disseminate information and news about Oxfam’s work in Azerbaijan to fight poverty and suffering
• To achieve strategic coverage for Oxfam and its work in Azerbaijan through communicating with journalists & broadcasters, in writing and face-to-face briefings,. This will include: (i) Research and writing press releases; (ii) organizing media briefings; facilitating trips to the field; collect case studies (in-depth interviews and photographs) from the country programme as appropriate and (iii) ensuring digital visibility of country programme and projects on social networks (Oxfam in Azerbaijan Facebook and Twitter pages).
• Support Oxfam partners with organisation and delivery of the media and campaigning events by building their capacity through set of trainings as well as coaching them during delivery of the events
• Collection of case studies and stories for media, campaigning and advocacy externally (OGB Global campaigns/GROW) and in country in particular for influencing local government authorities, gender awareness campaigns at the community level.
• Channelling communication news and updates between the global, regional and country teams
• Supporting Global and Regional campaigns and serving as a link between national campaigns and wider campaigns
•  Organizing communications workshops for country team
•  Making sure that appropriate gender messages are included in all project-related and campaigning communications. Highlight the achievements of women, as well as changes in men's attitude about gender relations as a result of project interventions in relevant case stories, and communication materials.

Skills and Competence:

• Knowledge of the Azerbaijan mass media with a track record of success and results achieved;
• Education to degree level in job related sector
• Professional communications skills, gained within a journalism/PR environment, to communicate and adapt complex policy and development issues to different levels of target audience;
• Excellent networking and negotiation skills to develop good working relationships within Oxfam and with the media; (communications; influencing others)
• Ability to think and operate strategically and creatively (analytical thinking)
• Skilled in an integrated approach to advocacy that includes lobbying, public campaigning (critical information gathering; knowledge management and conceptual thinking)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Azerbaijan
• Proven experience of using MS Office applications (Word, Excel and Power Point)
• Demonstrable ability to think strategically, organize, plan and prioritise work to achieve results
• Flexibility, ability to work independently and under pressure. (adaptable and flexible; initiative)
• Digital campaigning skills, comprehension of social networks and software.
• Knowledge about gender issues in Azerbaijan, and gender mainstreaming strategies in projects is a requirement.

Remuneration Package

• Social benefits will include possibility of participation in the Vanbreda medical insurance scheme and the Oxfam Provident Fund. Gross salary per month is 1,403.57 AZN.
