Role synopsis BP Azerbaijan-Georgia-Turkey Region (AGTR) invites the professionals to be a part of BP New Wells Delivery Team (NWD) as an Operations Geologist to work in Baku. The role of an Operations Geologist requires a demonstrated track record of delivering subsurface plans for supporting pre-well planning, executing wells, and end of well reviews. A strong technical competency in all aspects of geological well execution and subsurface data acquisition programs is essential in this role. A broad knowledge of well planning, seismic, petrophysical, and reservoir engineering principles and data would be an asset. The role also involves substantial input and geological oversight of the Wellsite Geologists.

Key accountabilities 

As Operations geologist, your main responsibilities will be as following, but not limited to:

• Ensure that all wells are drilled in a safe manner in accordance with the Statement of Requirement (SoR) for that well.
• Attend weekly well planning meetings. Compile Geological Operations Plan (GOP) ensuring consistency with SoR and contribute to wireline, Logging While Drilling (LWD) and coring programmes.
• Confirm formation tops, casing and core points as per SoR, monitor and advise when actual pore pressure is other than the predicted profile.
• Confirm non-productive time is captured in wellsite data book.
• Identify non-productive time reduction strategy linked to SoR and Data Acquisition Plan.
• Attend After-Action Reviews with service providers and liaise with geological contractors’ personnel to provide quality assurance of all subsurface data and reports.
• Provide mentoring and supervision of Wellsite Geologists

Essential Education 

- Relevant Geoscience Degree.

Essential experience and job requirements 

• A minimum of 3 years offshore experience as wellsite geologist or mudlogger;
• Good level of English (written and verbal)

Other essential skills and knowledge 

• Excellent communication skills with proven success working with multidisciplinary teams
• Ability to work in a challenging environment and deliver to tight deadlines
• Proficiency in work related software packages. Good computer skills.

Desirable criteria & qualifications 

• Experience working in western oil companies.
• Strong commitment to Health, Safety and Environment, and proven track record in this area of operations.
