The British Embassy Baku is seeking applications for the position of Community Liaison Officer (5-10hrs per week) and Training Liaison Officer (5 hrs per week).

We are seeking applications for the position of Community and Training Liaison Officer at the Embassy. The CLO/TLO provides information and support to UK based Embassy staff and their families and helps organise training within the embassy. The CLO/TLO will be based in the Corporate Services Section and will work closely with members of the Corporate Services team, as well as other colleagues within the Embassy. Good interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work well in a team as well as independently are therefore vital.

Main Duties and Responsibilities include:

    Providing preliminary information specific to the needs of new arrivals and answering questions about life in Baku, including schooling, housing, medical facilities, recreation, availability of goods, and spouse employment.
    Offering practical advice and emotional support during the settling-in period, and as needed.
    Acting as a point of contact for UK based staff, spouses, partners and families who wish to raise issues with management. Providing a listening ear, information, signposting and support when questions, problems and difficulties arise.
    Providing confidential support in times of crisis, and in these instances, calling upon the help of professional bodies both here and in the UK.
    Representing spouses at the Post Security Committee and the Post Management Committee as well as participating in Investors in People (IiP) and Emergency Planning meetings.
    Circulating information on events, opportunities and activities in Baku.
    Updating the Post Report, Welcome Pack, Schools Checklist, Spouse Employment Leaflet, Spouse and Partner Annual Data return and other documents.
    Liaising with other Embassies and communities in Baku and maintaining close contact with the DSFA in London and CLOs in our other missions worldwide.
    Completing the Cost of Living Allowance (COLA) survey twice a year.
    Coordinating and organising learning and development opportunities for staff at the Embassy;
    Supporting the completion and effective use of Personal Development Plans
    Liaising with the Regional Training Centres in Dubai and Prague
    Supporting regional working by working in partnership with the TLOs in Tbilisi and Yerevan
    Developing new learning and development opportunities at post, both internally and by working with local training providers

Ideal Candidate will have

    Good IT skills (Microsoft Windows and Office applications in particular)
    At least 2 years relevant experience
    Excellent attention to detail, good judgement and the ability to work on own initiative
    Excellent organisational and team-working skills, excellent interpersonal skills, including listening skills
    Experience of relocating to different countries and a good understanding of the needs and expectations of UK based families moving to Azerbaijan
    Fluent English

Salary and Employment

Embassy working hours are 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday. The salary is 10.77AZN per hour (gross) payable monthly in arrears. Tax will be deducted. In addition, the successful applicant will receive a comprehensive medical insurance package.
