Business Need / Purpose of Role:

Visual, Dimensional Inspection, Gauging of all types of Machined, Threaded, Reworked, Repaired & refurbished OCTG Casings, Tubing, BHA Tools & Parts etc.

Objectives & Measurement

Key Responsibilities and Specific Accountabilities:

Functional performance – Quality Control, NDT & Yard Inspection

• First Article Inspection, Visual/ Dimensional Inspection and gauging of all types threaded connections like API , VAM, Tenaris, Grant Prideco, Hunting & other types Premium Thread connections as per licensors’ procedures/requirements
• Inspection &/or monitoring of processes like swage/expanding, stress relieve, phosphate, bead blast, copper plate, torque etc.
• Inspection of Raw material and bought out components, outsourced products
• Verification of drawings issued for production/service, mentoring/advising to operators on technical issues
• Identify Non-conforming items and Quarantine; Participate to identify Root Causes of Defects & Re- inspect the rectified NC Parts for completion/ Close-out of Reworked areas.
• Ensure all QC Inspection activities are completed as per route card/quality plan, recorded and report the findings to the supervisor 

H.S. & E. Responsibilities

• Safe Handling of OCTG Pipes, Tools, Parts, Storage/ Protection of Parts & products.
• Ensure the 5S Housekeeping is maintained in designated Work Area.
• Minimize Environmental impacts to surrounding atmosphere when engaged in work.
• Understand Hazards/ Risk involved in designated work area, ensure that adequate Controls/ Safety procedures & safe methods are used & implemented. Assist HSE personnel & OCTG Supervisor in performing Job safety Analysis(JSA) or any specific Task Risk assessments(TRA)

Quality Management System

• Assist with care, storage, protection, maintenance and identification of Inspection equipment etc.
• Calibration of various inspection equipment
• Maintaining calibration status of inspection equipment
• Assist Lean Facilitator to develop Error Proofing Devices, SMED /Quick change over Dies
& participate in KAIZEN LEAN projects which helps in improving Work process, reduces
Time/Motion and minimizes Waste.
• Maintain all relevant documents and records in good state

Documentation and reporting.

• Report about all finding errors/deviations to OCTG Supervisor/ HSEQ Manager & prepare NCR Reports, submit to HSEQ Manager for Disposition.
• To generate all Inspection reports. Tally Reports, NDT & Hardness Test.
• Update Records, Maintain electronic or Hard copy documents as per QMS Requirements

Measurements:

• Zero NCRs or Customer complaints or External NC’s on self from parts / items Inspected & delivered to Customers.
• Upgrade Competence skills by getting well involved/ actively participating in In-house Training/On-The-Job Training sessions & passing the required Tests.
• Active participation in KAIZEN/LEAN Projects – Development of POKE YOKE devices etc.
• No Unsafe acts or incidents at work place or during work process.
• No NC’s from External Licensor, API & ISO 9001 QMS Audits

Job Knowledge / Education and Qualifications

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Language Skills: Ability to read English and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine Inspection reports. Ability to speak effectively before Third Party Inspectors, External Auditor or Customers.
Mathematical: Ability to measure and calculate figures to get resultant Measurements like length, Diameter. Radius, Surface finish etc. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with Work Pressure, urgency situations and Defects/errors problems
Computer Skills: Literate with Minimum working knowledge of MS Office software like MS Word and MS Excel.
Certificates, Licenses: ASNT Level-II In MT (Magnetic Particle) and PT (Penetrant Testing) (Not Required but desired) ,Internal Qualification record of Passing Theory / Practical Tests (80% marks) for Hardness Testing & Yard QC Inspection process.
Physical Demands: Be Healthy, clean, come to work regularly without taking sick leave regularly and have strength to handle Pipes, Casings and Crossovers with aid of lifting equipment’s

Core Competencies

To perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies.

• Previous experience in Workshops or Oilfield tubular equipment. - Competence Level - 3(Min)
• Basic Mechanical skills, handling tools, measuring equipment. - Competence Level - 3(Min)
• Basic English reading/writing skills – Good report preparation skill - Competence Level - 3(Min)
• Gauging, Dimensional, Thread Inspection, Inspection &/or monitoring of processes like swage/expanding, stress relieve, phosphate, bead blast, copper plate, torque etc. for of OCTG Pipes - Competence Level - 4(Min)
• Preferably ASNT Level-II in MT & PT – NDT methods - Competence Level - 5(Min)
• Previous Field Inspection of OCTG Pipes, Tools & Equipment’s is an added advantage.

EHS Responsibilities

All employees/operatives will:
1. Ensure the implementation of the Company EHS Policy for the prevention of injury, damage or loss to Company personnel and resources.
2. Adhere to the risk assessment controls identified.
3. Not interfere or misuse any equipment supplied.
4. Maintain equipment supplied for carrying out work tasks including daily maintenance where appropriate.
5. Use personal protective equipment supplied in accordance with site risk assessments and site rules.
6. Attend any suitable training to ensure that they are competent to perform their duties safely.
7. Comply with any rules specific to a particular site and any Company wide health, safety or environmental requirements.
8. Report any injuries, unsafe acts or conditions to line managers.
9. Support EHS policy to help deliver cultural development and sustained continual improvement in EHS performance
