Job Title - Lead Instrument & Control Engineer

Location - Baku

About SOCAR KBR LLC

In March 2015 the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and KBR announced an agreement to establish a new engineering and support Services Company in Azerbaijan.  The legal entity name of the new company is SOCAR-KBR LLC and provides design, engineering, technical, procurement, construction supervision and project management services for projects across the upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas sectors, in the Azerbaijan – Georgia – Turkey (AGT) region.  The key objective of this strong partnership is to create a world class Azerbaijan-based EPCm services company that will utilize the strengths of both organisations and deliver top quality results by utilising, developing and promoting Azerbaijani national content. The company has a long term commitment from both organisations.

Primary Role and Responsibilities:

• To provide overall management of instrumentation and control engineering activities being performed by company
• To facilitate communication and specialist technical knowledge
• To supervise instrument and control discipline interfaces
• To attend HAZOP, LOPA and SIL reviews and provide guidance to company’s team with regards to the key process areas that need to be assessed as part of these activities.
• Prepare, check and approve functional safety deliverables to ensure plant safety and design integrity are not compromised.
• To conduct training and mentoring of company’s junior engineers and designers within the discipline.
• To provide in-country construction and commissioning support for major offshore activities including Technical Building, Subsea Interfaces, Rotating Equipment and High Pressure Actuated Valves.
• To verify the correct operation of the Integrated Control and Safety System by attending the in-country integrated site acceptance test.
• Coordinating the roll-out the company’s tools, systems and work methods.
• Ensure work methods/ checking procedures are being complied with and identifying any local job notes required.
• Seek opportunities for expansion of discipline activities in subsequent phases of the Project
• Supports the development of technical capabilities to enable the office to undertake additional phase activities.

Qualifications:

• Masters in Control Systems Engineering

Essential Skills:

• Knowledge of Control and Instrumentation Systems design in the form of recognised engineering qualification.
• Functional Safety qualification and experience recognised by world renowned organisations in the field.
• Understanding of multi-discipline interfaces and information flow.
• Working experience of wide range of field instrumentation, vendor packages, ICSS and field wiring and tubing.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to inspire workers to do their best.
• Technical proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, INTools PDMS review.
• Familiar with company’s work methods, tools and systems

Experience Required:

• Construction and commissioning experiences, with 10+ years of experience working in engineering and construction within the oil and gas industry
• Previous experience working on design projects during both FEED and Detailed Design
• Caspian and international project execution experience
