Technical Translator

Duties & Responsibilities:

- Preparing written translations of technical and instruction materials, correspondence and forms from English to Azerbaijani/Russian and / or from Azerbaijani/Russian to English.
- Provide translation and proofreading for official correspondence and documents including, reports, minutes, proposals, presentation slides, study/training documents and materials;
- Consecutive interpretation at training sessions, workshops, conferences, site visits;
- Reviewing translated material for accuracy of meaning, grammar and syntax ;
- Research legal, technical and engineering phraseology pertinent to the assigned projects;
- Identify and resolve conflicts related to the meanings of words, concepts, practices, or behaviors ;
- Facilitate communication for people with limited English proficiency;
- Checking original text or conferring with authors to ensure that translations retain the content, meaning, and feeling of the original material;
- Refer to reference materials, such as dictionaries, lexicons, encyclopedias, and computerized terminology banks, as needed to ensure translation accuracy;
- Checking translation of technical terms and terminology to ensure that they are accurate and remain consistent throughout translation;
- Edit, standardize, proofread, revise and finalize translated material prepared by other employees and contractors ;
- Organize translated material and finalize translation according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology;

Education/Experience and Qualification:

- A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in English
- Excellent writing skills and command of grammar
- Proficiency in the use of a range of computer packages - knowledge of translation-oriented applications and software is helpful, though not essential                                                                  
- Attention to detail combined with the ability to work quickly to meet deadlines
- Fluent knowledge of Azerbaijani, English and Russian languages.
- Highly specialized subject matter of knowledge specific to the content to be translated.
- Excellent background in technical translation and technical writing, especially in engineering settings                             
- Knowledge of MS. Office Programs

Job type: full-time
Employment type: permanent
Working environment: office based
Working hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00am – 6:00pm, 5 working days a week. Extra hours may be required due to operation needs.
