Job Title : Senior Piping Designer
Purpose of Job
The Senior Piping Designer shall have the ability and experience to layout piping systems on Oil and Gas projects and ensure the layouts are in accordance corporate engineering specifications, using PDMS. The Senior Piping Designer shall mentor less experienced piping designers in the technical aspects of using PDMS and laying out plant. They shall have adequate experience to adopt a practical approach to piping layout problems and be familiar with the requirements/interactions of other engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities
• Responsible for safe working practices both personally and for any assigned Piping Designers in the team. Understands and follows OH&S procedures.
• Understands and applies corporate quality management system.
• Develops positive client and project relationships.
• Model piping and equipment using 3D software package PDMS.
• Lay out plant equipment and incorporate minimum plant spacing requirements. Understand and take cognisance of equipment maintenance and operational requirements/envelopes.
• Optimise piping layouts with respect to safety, ergonomical, cost and construction requirements.
• Interpret pipe stress ISOs, work cooperatively with pipe stress engineer to develop alternative designs and find optimal solutions.
• Conduct field investigation trips to live hydrocarbon processing plants, and generate site visit reports.
• Navigate Navisworks models during 3D design reviews with client and multi discipline design teams.
• Interpret laser scan data and utilise them to design tie-ins for new piping and equipment.
• Manage quality control of 3D design models; understand the importance of dimensional accuracy.
• Understand piping construction techniques, and use this knowledge to generate efficient designs.
• Understand construction constraints on live hydrocarbon plants, and develop piping designs to minimise or eradicate risks associated with work.
• Progress schedule by tracking ISO progress through multiple gates.
• Mentor, train and supervise trainee piping designers, junior piping designers and piping designers if required
Essential Job Requirements:
• Degree in piping design, mechanical engineering, or equivalent. Formal training in using PDMS, PDS or SmartPlant 3D for piping and layout.
• More than 8 years’ experience in plant and piping layout, using computerised piping design software, with majority using PDMS
• Greenfield and brownfield piping design experience in hydrocarbon facilities
• Has demonstrable track record of mentoring and supervision of trainee and junior designers.
• Past experience in Conceptual, Define and Execute Phases of piping projects.
• Azerbaijani citizenship
