Economic Participation of IDP and vulnerable population of selected host communities in the South Caucasus

Expert on Business Development and Skills Development, Azerbaijan (full time)

Location of the project office – Baku, Azerbaijan

Duration -  mid of December 2017 until end of April 2020

The "Economic Participation of IDP and vulnerable population of selected host communities in the South Caucasus" project operates on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) with the aim of improving the conditions for pro-poor & inclusive growth by fostering income generation through employment and entrepreneurship among the target group by applying approaches of private sector development at all stages accompanied by and access to finance and short-term vocational qualification.

Activities with a strong pilot character will be implemented within 3 intervention fields

1) Strengthening capacities of public sector actors for promotion of economic participation of the target group,
2) Consultancy and qualification for – especially young women and men of – the target group to increase their use of offers such as market relevant career orientation, start-up consultancy, short-term vocational qualification and internships, including also psycho-social measures,
3) Promotion of the local private sector through business development and employment of IDP in value chains.

Your tasks:

• Coordinating and assisting in preparing and conducting project activities
• participating in formulating project action plans and help synchronise the planning and budgeting system and counterparts;
• responsible jointly with the partner institution for preparing, implementing and documenting training events, workshops, forums, team meetings, strategies, PR items and other project activities
• identify the needs of government institutions, NGOs, enterprises, jobseekers, the target group and other partners and stakeholders
• assisting national and international advisers in carrying out their work in Azerbaijan and if required abroad
• assists the project with all organisational and management issues
• coordinates the use of office and transport capacities in accordance with the agreement on the use of facilities at the relevant office location

Requirements:

• University degree (equivalent to MBA or higher) in an area that is related to the project objectives, covering fields such as economics and SME development, and / or development studies, migration, conflict
• at least 5 years professional experience in a similar position
• profound work experience with support projects in the area of sustainable economic development, private sector development, qualification / skills development and conflict
• prior work experience with IDP and vulnerable populations
• excellent command, written and oral, of English and Azeri language; knowledge German language is an asset;
• willingness to travel regularly within the country and also abroad
