Chief Technology Officer

Description

The Chief Technology Officer’s role is to assure the successful execution of the company’s business mission through development and deployment of the company’s technical system presence. The CTO leads a team that builds and sustains the core technology related to deliver outcomes within the scope of the Company missions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and define technical strategy at Avirtel, working as a core business and strategic partner with the senior leadership team.
• Lead a team of engineers who understand the needs of the customers and network and support both effectively;
• Direct the day-to-day operations and work processes of the department, including network and infrastructure, telecommunications, applications, helpdesk, desktop support and project management;
• In partnership with the company’s Leadership Team, identify opportunities and risks for delivering the company’s services, including identification of competitive services, opportunities for innovation, and assessment of marketplace obstacles and technical hurdles to the business success;
• Participate as a member of the senior management team in establishing governance processes of direction and control to ensure that objectives are achieved, risks are managed appropriately and the organization’s resources are used responsibly, particularly in the areas of software development, network infrastructure, and telecommunications;
• Collaborate with the appropriate departments to assess and recommend technologies that support company organizational needs;
• Establish and supervise a quality assurance process, including integration and system testing;
• Ensure that technology standards and best practices are maintained across the organization;
• Ensure technical problems are resolved in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Position Requirements

• University degree in the field of computer science, engineering or another rigorous discipline. An advanced degree in one these fields is a plus;
• At least 5 years of management experience in IT/Project Management
• Ability to collaborate with executives, engineers, designers, salespeople, and clients;
• Solid comfort level with open-source technology projects and the tools/languages we use;
• Knowledge of principles and techniques of project planning, scheduling and control as applied to implementation of technical projects.
• Demonstrated ability to envision IT services that meet consumer needs or solve business problems.
• Language skills: Azerbaijani (fluent), Russian (fluent), English (intermediate)
