Job Title: Technical Design Authority

Key accountabilities 

• Technical Design Authority for a range of systems including internal corporate and external cloud-based systems, critical Results Distribution Systems, the Baku2015 website and mobile applications.
• Review solution proposals and technical designs for conformance to the BEGOC Architecture Strategy and Principles, ensuring that system architectures are robust, scalable, and secure.
• Support definition of non-functional requirements for availability, capacity and performance.
• Ensure that designs and implementation meet functional and non-functional requirements.
• Oversee the implementation life-cycle of systems including integration, testing, assurance and launch.
• Carry out risk assessment of supplier solutions, ensuring key risks are identified and mitigated.
• Primary BEGOC point of contact for integration and resolution/escalation of technical issues for third-party deliveries.
• Establish strong collaborative working relationships with third-party suppliers in order to fulfil the remit.
• Drive the establishment of detailed operational processes and procedures, for use in monitoring and maintaining operation of the systems and for dealing with incidents or changes arising.
• Games-time Technology Operations Centre role
• Other duties may be assigned as required.

Knowledge, experience and qualifications required 

• Previous experience as a Technical Architect or Technical Design Authority.
• Broad knowledge of the design, implementation and operation of multi-vendor IT and Enterprise Architecture in mission-critical environments across multiple sites.
• Knowledge of wide range of technologies including in areas such as websites and web applications, mobile apps, web services, SOA, EAI, storage solutions, enterprise messaging systems, HA & DR, performance and load testing.  
• Detailed understanding of LAN/WAN technologies
• Experience with SaaS, public/private cloud-based solutions, virtualisation, cloud-based testing
• Good understanding of security architecture, controls and best practice.
• Experience with high-profile, high-load websites and web applications.
• Experience of technology delivery within a fast-paced work environment.
• Excellent organisational skills to monitor progress of technical deliverables and achieve closure of key technical issues.
• Previous Games experience in a similar role preferred, including good working knowledge of Games-critical systems.
