Role synopsis
The E&S Lead will support the SCPX and HSE Managers for Shah Deniz 2 projects ensure that the Projects are designed and constructed in compliance with the approved ESIAs and associated Environmental & Social Management & Monitoring Plans. Delivery will be in accordance with the respective HGA’s and other requirements, relevant National and International legislation and BP’s Environmental and Social Group Defined Practice.
Key accountabilities
• Provide overall technical direction and management of the environmental, social and land teams in SCPX.
• Manage the delivery of ESIA’s to ensure project impacts are minimized and environmental permits are obtained in a timely manner.
• Develop a flexible and focused assurance team organization comprised of capable and experienced personnel.
• Manage internal E&S monitoring and assurance processes on project activities consistent with Government, Partner and BP expectations.
• Manage external stakeholder engagement activities with civil society institutions, government, international donors, and project affected communities in close liaison with AGT Regional representatives.
• Provide specialist support to the Company in the capacity of Screening Facilitator, Group Subject Matter Expert for Impact Assessment and PHSSER
• Train and mentor employees to support their development and performance; and, understanding of local cultural impacts & risks upon E&S performance
• Ensure Engineering Design, Construction Methodology and Management of Change conforms with ESIA requirements.
Essential Education
Degree level qualification in environmental related discipline
Essential experience and job requirements
Experienced in leading the interface with corporate leadership and external stakeholders on environmental and social issues Experienced in managing environmental contractors Experience of managing environmental and social issues during the design and construction Category A projects Detailed knowledge and expertise in the application of BP environmental and social requirements to Category A projects.
