The Embassy would like to invite applications for the position of A2 (L), Trade Officer - (full-time)

Azerbaijan and Britain have strong bilateral relations and share common interests on the international stage. The UK has consistently been Azerbaijan’s largest foreign investor and is well placed to do more.
Although the majority of the UK’s investments come from the Oil & Gas sector, there are growing opportunities in priority sectors for the UK in Azerbaijan including: Construction, ICT, Financial Services, Design, Education & Retail.
The post of a full-time Trade Officer will be part of the Embassy’s busy Commercial Section and will identify and report on potential high value business opportunities in Azerbaijan for UK businesses. Applications are therefore invited from self-motivated and proactive candidates, who wish to support UK commercial interests, to join the team

Purpose of the job

• You will work as part of the Commercial Team responsible for implementing and improving UK exports to Azerbaijan.
• As a Trade Officer, you will deploy your local knowledge and understanding of Azerbaijan to help identify potential high value business opportunities for UK companies, and provide detailed market research reports for UK businesses wishing to enter the local market.
• You will organise and contribute to visit programmes and briefing for UK government Ministers and officials, and help to organise bilateral and other events.
• You will network with a range of stakeholders in Azerbaijan and collaborate with colleagues in the UK to deliver on your objectives.

Required competencies / Minimum requirements

• A degree-level education.
• You will have an understanding of local economic and commercial challenges in Azerbaijan and the region.
• You will have the skills to develop and maintain high level contacts in Azerbaijani Ministries, businesses and institutions, and you will be comfortable working with senior British and Azerbaijani officials.
• You will be a proactive self-starter with an ability to think strategically, moving from everyday detail to the bigger picture.
• You should be able to work within a multidisciplinary team, adding value by identifying the synergies between your area and, for example, the UK’s drive to promote UK business in an overseas market.
• You will have strong interpersonal, communication and organisational skills.
• A good command of the English language, spoken and written, as well as Azerbaijani and Russian, is essential.

Please note that this position may involve some commitments (networking, receptions, and seminars) out of normal working hours.

Salary and Employment

Embassy working hours are 09:00 to 17:00 Monday to Friday. You will be required to work 40 hours per week. Monthly gross salary for this position is AZN1348 payable monthly in arrears. In addition, the successful applicant will receive a comprehensive medical insurance package.
