Job Title: Material Coordinator

Key Responsibilities:

• Execute material management procedures
• Set up and maintain materials history (procurement & consumption) records to capture all material control and specified documents
• Monitor inventories and requisition/delivery progress for early identification of potential problems.
• Generate Reports to track inventory turnovers, consumption, delivery timing and status reports for Management.
• Audit & update inventory levels, Reorder Levels & Reorder Quantities to adjust inventory with increasing activities
• Verify inventory computations by comparing them to physical counts of stock, and investigate discrepancies or adjust errors.
• Develop action plans to correct problems identified or adjust inventory levels accordingly to prevent shortages.
• Ensure accurate inventory control records are maintained.
• Work with Quality Assurance and Quality Control as needed to specify and validate material specifications.
• Assist as needed on Service Orders, Purchase Orders evaluations.
• Use MOVEX / ACCESS for requisition and receipt of materials.
• Promote awareness and ensure that all warehouse activities are in compliance with Company policies and procedures; including Health, Safety and Environmental requirements.
• Ensure proper handling and storage procedures are followed for all Goods, especially on hazardous materials and COSHH.
• Proactively work with Operations Team to identify needed materials & specifications (for both one time projects and continuing needs)
• Ensure inward goods meet required Quality standards & specifications.
• Participate in periodical stock takes and the annual stock take, reconciling inventory records and physical counts.
• Store items in an orderly and accessible manner in warehouses, Protectors storage Area, Bar storage area or other areas. Organize physically the warehouse or storage area.
• Ensure Goods are stored correctly to minimize possibility of damage or deterioration.
• Keep records on the use and/or damage of stock or stock handling equipment.
• Examine and inspect stock items for wear or defects, reporting any damage to supervisors, QA/QC Department.
• Determine proper storage methods, identification, and stock location based on turnover, environmental factors, and physical capabilities of facilities.
• Assist with the development of stores procedures and practices to cover all aspects of material storage and distribution.
• Mark stock items using identification tags, stamps, electric marking tools, or other labeling equipment.
• Supervise and when required participate in cleaning and maintenance of supplies, tools, equipment, and storage areas in order to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
• Provide assistance or direction to other stockroom, warehouse, or storage yard workers.
• Recommend disposal of excess, defective, or obsolete stock.
• Organize disposal of damaged or defective items, or return them to vendors.
• Prepare and maintain records and reports of inventories, price lists, shortages, shipments, expenditures, and goods used or issued.
• Issue or distribute materials, products, parts, and supplies to co-workers, based on information from incoming requisitions/Purchase Orders.
• Monitor material issuance in order to facilitate FIFO (First In First Out).
• Advise, wherever possible, internal users on the appropriateness of parts, supplies, or materials requested.
• Prepare documents that provide for purchase of new or additional stock.
• Compile, review, and maintain data from contracts, purchase orders, requisitions, and other documents in order to assess supply needs.
• Confer with engineering and purchasing personnel regarding stock procurement and availability.
• Supervise and assist in preparation of products, supplies, equipment, or other items for use by adjusting or assembling them as necessary.
• Assist with administration work involved in the stores and purchasing function.
• Ensure appropriate safety standards are maintained in the stores, storage areas and yard.
• Assist and liaison with Supervisors on forward planning of supplies, delivery dates and any adjustments/modifications to specifications.
• Perform light manual labor
• Must understand and comply with all safety rules, quality system, LEAN principles and company policies.
• Participate in training and supervision of subordinates, when applicable and as required by Company.
• Weekly/ Monthly reporting to be sent to Supply Chain Manager
• Ensure strict compliance with Weir Group’s business practices to maintain highest level of integrity and ethical behavior in executing any commercial transaction.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's degree with one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
