Nobel Oil Exploration and Development Ltd.  is seeking an Exploration and Production Geologist for its Upstream Offshore Business Unit based in Baku. Working as a leader in geology & geophysics areas, the successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of geological input into the Upstream Offshore Business Unit’s exploration and production activities.

Key responsibilities include:

Responsible for a wide range of geological activities, including:

- Carry out extensive detailed mapping based on 3D seismic data, analyzing seismic attributes, and preparing detailed structural, stratigraphic, and amplitude maps, including geocellular maps to cultivate exploration and development strategies for the Company existing and potential key offshore assets (fields and structures);
- Integrate shallow & deepwater depositional concepts, biostratigraphic, sedimentology and geochemistry data, log character and seismic data to develop interpretation of depositional environment and facies distributions and to produce a complete subsurface evaluation;
- Understand advanced principles of trap and seal analysis as applied to exploration and development, including juxtaposition analysis and reservoir compartmentalization / tilting;
- Gather, analyze, and interpret relevant data including geophysical wire line log & mud log, PVT, core logging and cuttings analysis interpretations;
- Petrophysical model building, including reservoir saturation modeling and uncertainty analysis, fluid characterization and distribution analysis;
- Wellsite experience (MDT / RFT tool running, cement bond log jobs);
- Utilize risk analysis & Good knowledge of (and preferably experience in) hydrocarbons resources / reserves volume assessment (PRMS 2007), including input to economic evaluations and screening;
- Exploration & production wells planning and supervising over execution;
- Work closely with all outside subsurface discipline;
- Provide input to new field development plans;
- Participates in peer reviews, and contributes to management and joint venture partner meetings;
- Prepare and update drill hole database, maps and other exploration & production records;
- Support Upstream Offshore Business Unit Team Leader.

Required qualifications and skills:

BSc in Geological Sciences (MSc preferred);
Good written and verbal communication skills, both in English and Azerbaijani, Russian would be an asset;
Proven self starter demonstrating initiative;
Ability to think strategically and analytically;
Problem-solving ability and the ability to prioritize tasks under pressure;.

Experience:

- Previous experience of a similar role for at least 10 years, preferably in an operator environment;
- A strong background in geological interpretation from either exploration or field development planning throughout the life of a field;
- Familiarity with industry standard software (Petrel, Roxar, Eclipse and others);
- Good understanding of South Caspian regional geology, including Baku Archipelago;
- Proven track record in multi-disciplinary teams;                                                                                                          - Good knowledge of technological developments;
- Work experience with high pressure gas-condensate fields will be an asset.
