KCA DEUTAG is one of the largest international drilling operation contractors in the Caspian region, having  a history of over 100 years of drilling and engineering activities across the globe, and undertakes projects in some of the most harsh and demanding environments in the world. The Pipe Operative is responsible to the Driller for the work carried out on the Rig Floor and will also assist the Fluids Operative or Assistant Driller, as required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities (but not be limited to):

• Perform tripping operations (drill strings, BHA, casings, liners, completions) making use of rig floor handling equipment as appropriate.
• Assist with maintenance of the rig equipment.
• Maintain all tools and equipment in a clean and safe condition and ensure the return of tools and equipment to their correct places (e.g. slips, elevators, safety clamps, rotary tongs).
• Maintain the rig floor, sub-structure and associated drilling areas in a clean and tidy condition.
• Assist and relieve the Fluids Operative, as required, inclusive of mixing fluids.
• Assist in picking up and laying down tubulars and equipment.
• Assist in rigging up equipment for the specialist service companies.
• Under the supervision of the Driller, maintenance of derrick equipment.
• Assist in the installation and movement of BOP and wellhead equipment.
• Carry out shaker house duties in accordance with work programme to include changing out of shaker screens as directed by Assistant Driller and Fluids Operative.
• Monitor the fluid returns at the shakers and report changes in size, shape and volume of cuttings to the Driller.
• Take fluid weight and viscosity checks logging them and reporting any anomalies to the Driller.
• Maintain the shaker deck log book accurately and up to date, and use as the basis for handing over to the relief.
• Stand-in for alternative work discipline as required.
• The handover of ongoing tasks to back-to-back Pipe Operative.
• Assist in area inspections as required.
• Assure that upon completion of an assignment or at the end of a work period, that all equipment and tools are properly stored.
• Complete any other reasonable tasks as delegated by Line Supervisor.
• Assist in Housekeeping as delegated by Line Supervisor.

Educational and Experience Requirements

An Associate’s degree in and/or a minimum of twoyears offshore experienceor equivalent combination of education and experience is required

• Good problem-solving skills & good levels of concentration
• Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions
• Awareness of health and safety
• Excellent command of Azerbaijan, working knowledge of English, and Russian languages and written and verbal communication skills
• Computer software skills (e.g. MS Office)
• Ability to work in a high performing work environment
• Ability to work productively and maintain effective working relationships with people of different national and cultural backgrounds
• Ability to work as part of a small team and also on your own initiative
