Main Duties:

  • This employee is employed and discharged by the director of the company according to the legislation of the Azerbaijan Republic.
  • When the general manager isn’t at work the execution of his functions is assigned to the director of operations accordng to the general manager’s discretion (instructions).
  • The director of opertaions who is charged with the execution of his functions gets appropriate rights and is responsible for the proper execution of the work.

Customer Service:

  • To ensure that all associates deliver provide exceptional guest service at all times.
  • To ensure that associates also provide excellent service to internal customers in other departments as appropriate.
  • To handle all internal customer complaints and inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner, following through to make sure problems are resolved satisfactorily.

Financial:

  • To implement an effective budget controls.
  • To check for energy and engineering materials wastage and ensure optimum use of both in the operation.
  • To proactively manage costs.
  • To maximise associate productivity through the use of multi-skilling, multi-tasking and flexible scheduling to meet the financial goals of the business as well as the expectations of the guests.

Operational responsibility:

  • Ensures smooth organisation of Engineering Department and delivers an effective workcontrol and productivity.
  • Periodically reviews manning figures, keeping balance between under and overstaffing according to occupancy hotel.
  • Controlling hours, extra work done by contractors.
  • Selecting of new Team Members.
  • Makes sure that all plants and systems are in a good condition at all times.
  • Tests regular all fire prevention systems in the entire hotel.
  • Directs and supervises the implementation of an effective Trouble Report system together with other day-to-day works of general maintenance and repair to ensure that the building, its contents and its surroundings are at all times in first-class condition throughout.
  • Identifies and arranges for all work necessary to maintain this high standard whether mechanical, electrical or civil, to be completed in good time. Ensures that all systems and procedures are kept up to date and that all standards are complied.
  • Ensures all disturbances / breakdowns are handled and registered.
  • Draws up preventive maintenance schedules for every item of mechanical and electrical plant or equipment of all departments, such as Chillers, Boilers, Cooling.
  • Towers, Air Handling Units and Fans, Pumps, Automatic Control systems, Sanitation etc.
  • Incorporates these schedules into the development of a comprehensive preventive maintenance scheme, directs and supervises the work of his assistant and his team of skilled and semiskilled tradesmen in its continuous implementation.
  • Monitors the effects of servicing and maintenance on their condition wherever possible by means of engineering log and instrument test readings.
  • Consistent controls the annual budget and updates when necessary.
  • Controls departmental budget and maintain accuracy of savings, such as electricity, gas water, supplies, etc.
  • Arranges and negotiates prices for all manufactures / agents service contracts in accordance with requirements of the relevant policy.
  • Coordinates and supervises the work of service contractors to ensure that the terms of all such contracts for major plant and systems designated as critical are fully implemented. For all works involving outside contractors or consultants draws up relevant specifications and assesses the quotations.

Personnel:

  • To prepare weekly work schedules in accordance with workload and priorities.
  • To oversee the punctuality and appearance of all Engineering associates, making sure that they wear the correct uniform and maintain a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene, according to the hotel and department’s grooming standards.
  • To maximise the effectiveness of engineering associates by developing each of their skills and abilities through the appropriate training, coaching, and/or mentoring.
  • To assist in conducting annual Performance Development Discussions with Engineering associates and to support them in their professional development goals.
  • To ensure that all associates have a complete understanding of and adhere to associate rules and regulations.
  • To ensure that associates follow all hotel, company and local rules, policies and regulations relating to fire and hazard safety, and security.
  • To encourage associates to be creative and innovative, challenging and recognising them for their contribution to the success of the operation.
  • To plan and implement effective training programmes for associates in coordination with the Training Manager and Departmental Trainers.
  • To feedback the results of the Associate Engagement Survey and to ensure relevant changes are implemented and effective impact action plans are created following the brainstorming with the associates.

Obligations on Technical and Occupational Safety:

  • To be aware of the policies and procedures on the Technical and Occupational Safety and to ensure that all procedures are implemented in the framework of principles of safety and Technical and Occupational Safety.
  • To be aware of the obligation of caution and to follow the legislation, policies and procedures on the Technical and Occupational Safety.
  • To get familiarized with the procedures on property safety, first aid, fire and emergency situations and to exploit the equipment in a safe and rational manner.
  • To take measures in order to eliminate dangerous situation and to inform supervisors/controllers about potential dangers.

Other Duties:

  • To be on time to work and to avoid being late.
  • To wear appropriate uniform and name tag all the time. 
  • To ensure highest standards in regards to appearance and hygiene as well as to follow standards on personal care of the hotel as well as of the department.
  • To maintain normal working relations with co-workers and other departments.
  • To maintain good communication to ensure effective change of shifts and to start the shift on time.  
  • To understand and strictly follow established internal rules and regulations, in particular policies and procedures on fire, hygiene, health and technical safety.
  • To abide by national legislation. 
  • If necessary, to respond to any changes within the department in accordance with the needs of the hotel.  
  • To be flexible and to expand his/her duties to fulfil respective other duties and obligations on the basis of instructions given within his/her work competency. If required, to shift to other departments and fields and to meet the requirements for business and guest service needs.
  • If required, to participate in training sessions and meetings.  
  • To fulfil other duties and obligations as required.
