Supplier Quality Management Specialist

Role overview:

- Manages the Approved Vendor List Process (including supplier capability assessments and continuous improvement with suppliers to reduce cost of poor quality).
- Ensures key Supplier Quality Management processes are in place
- Ensures the implementation of Supplier Quality Plans primarily with Strategic and Core suppliers and/or suppliers of safety critical products and services.
- The role requires an understanding of business objectives and the ability to engage internal and external customers, functional specialists and other stakeholders whose support is critical for successful implementation of the process. 

Key Accountabilities
 
Leadership
- Communicates regularly with key stakeholders to ensure alignment of objectives and to build a clear understanding of business requirements for third party goods and services.
- Leads the on-boarding of key stakeholders who are required to support PSCM approaches to the external market, coaching as necessary.
- Ensures improvement in Total Cost of Ownership and supplier performance by driving consistency in quality of products and services.

Supplier Quality Management

• Identifies critical business issues and implements prevention activities with suppliers and internal stakeholders to drive “right first time” quality performance.
• Implements corrective action activities with suppliers to ensure proper identification of root causes of failures to prevent reoccurrence.
• Reviews and approves the Business Risk Assessment and the Technical Risk analysis during the Pre-Qualification Process.
• Leads Supplier Capability audits during the Qualification Process in the event that on-site assessment is necessary.
• Provides and maintains standard templates for supplier quality requirements.
• Leads the Supplier Quality Plan activities with the suppliers and contractors and accepts submitted evidence.
• Assists the Champion and Administrator to coordinate the activities required to complete the NCI, CAR Lite, CAR or 7 Steps CI in accordance with SQM Corrective Action Management procedures and designated due dates. May manage the whole process from start to finish dependant upon the NCI or CAR and Region/Division protocol.
• Completes appropriate documentation for formal notification to the supplier in the case of Quality Hold.
• Verifies, approves supplier’s Quality Hold plan/process and leads the resolution process with supplier.
• Verifies supplier’s root cause analysis, corrective actions, process control improvements and validation plan and ensures that the supplier has met all exit criteria.
• Raises Quality Alert if/when needed.
• Processes any related CAR’s within ESQ.
• Attends supplier performance reviews and provides quality data from various sources within the SQM processes.
• Responsible for disposition of the Supplier Change Notification related to process changes. The level of validation requirements are defined by SQM specialist based on the magnitude of the change to assure risk mitigation to Company.
• Responsible to assure that supplier completes process validation activities.
• Supports the Category Manager to communicate the engagement requirements for Supplier Optimisation Program.
• Works with the supplier to define projects, actions and target benefits.
• Monitors the progress of the projects, verifies the results and reports in the PSCM pipeline reporting tool.

Capability Development

- Supports and enables a high performing team, coaching less experienced PSCM staff.
- Participates in company networks, sharing information, best practices and lessons learned.
- Supports Supplier Development activities by leading a cross functional team to conduct working with the supplier.
- Supports Continuous Improvement activities by working with the supplier to analyze the performance towards BP’s SPU(s).
- Provides effective access to information and facilitates informed dialogue with key stakeholders.
- Arrange training workshops, provide updates on the new processes and request feedback.
- Facilitates active involvement in quality management process, engages expert advice and assistance on fundamental issues.
