CHIEF ACCOUNTANT
Chief Accountant is a position in the accounting department of the Finance Department and reports to the Finance Director. Chief Accountant supervises the whole accounting team.
The basic job duties will include, but not be limited to:
Financial Accounting
(1) Lead, coordinate and supervise, on a daily basis, the work of financial accounting department;
a) Prepare and update Accounting Policies and Procedures Manual for local and IFRS reporting purposes;
b) Define (subject to approval by Finance Director) accounting treatment of various technical issues and implement the approved treatment;
c) Daily control GL entries
d) Work with the various departments to coordinate the proper flow of accounting information and resolve issues on an on-going basis;
e) Work with ERP team in ensuring proper operation of automated controls over business processes and availability of reliable data;
f) Ensure data integrity (e.g. regular back-up of ERP database)
g) Ensure proper reconciliations, checks and error detection procedures are in place.
(2) Tax Accounting
a) Ensure timely submission of tax filings to the tax authorities by pre-determined deadlines;
b) Perform tax optimization, wherever possible;
c) Perform regular reviews (at appropriate circumstances by involving a professional tax consultant) to identify tax risks and suggest solutions to minimize and/or eliminate the risks;
(3) Reporting and Audits
a) Ensure preparation of management accounts (P&L, Cash Flow statement, Balance Sheet) for each month by a set deadline;
b) Ensure preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS on a pre-defined frequency;
c) Assist external auditors in performing their audits of IFRS financial statements and local PTR;
(4) Supervision, Education and Performance Appraisal
a) Set goals for and monitor the performance of staff in the accounting department in line with the Company policies;
b) Ensure compliance of staff in the accounting department with all Company policies and procedures;
c) Educate, train and support develop the staff;
Chief Accountant may have to perform other tasks as delegated by the Finance Director and deemed to be in the competency of Chief Accountant.
Requirements
Education:
University education in finance, accounting and/or other related business disciplines. International certification (e.g. ACCA) will be preferred.
Work experience:
Minimum 5 years of work experience in a related field is required.
IT skills:
a) Good workable knowledge of MS Office programs (Excel, Word)
b) Experience with one of ERP programs (1C, SAP, Oracle, Navision, Sun Systems etc.) will be preferred
Languages:
The candidate should be fluent in Azerbaijani and preferably in Russian. Intermediate knowledge of English is also a preference.
