Essential duties and responsibilities

• Support to project management of spatial planning including report construction, activity planning, sequencing, resource planning, cost estimation, project documentation
• Review existing literature on tourism
• Support co-ordinate, communicate and work with governmental agencies and companies as well as regional stakeholders in relation to STA/ATB activities in tourism zones
• Conduct research relating to tourism development and spatial planning in Azerbaijan
• Develop project scope of works documents and control the tender process
• Develop and implement workflow processes and organizational structure and manage internal and external relationships
• Attend local and regional level public sector meetings representing the interests of STA/ATB and the tourism sector in general
• Support with tourism zoning assessments and preparing technical reports to STA/ATB
• Work with STA/ATB head office to communicate policy and regulation advice to Executive Powers and other government and non-government organizations
• Conduct stakeholder consultations with public, private and civil society, in collaboration with partners, to better understand the implication of spatial plans and regulations that both support and inhibit sustainable tourism development
• Collect best practices and lessons learned from other countries on tourism spatial planning for sustainable tourism development. Identify specific policy and strategy interventions that were successful in increasing the sustainability of tourism in these countries or destinations.
• Develop, contribute and participate in tourism zoning strategy and policymaking process
• Produce regular progress reports to STA/ATB

Requirements

Education and/or Experience:

• Post graduate degree in a discipline related to sustainability, tourism planning, urban planning, business and development
• At least 3 years’ experience in tourism or spatial/urban planning
• Proven experience working in a team
• Awareness / understanding of the regions as a tourism destination
• Experience in development, formulation and implementation of strategic initiatives
• Experience managing a budget
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral in Azerbaijani and English
• Computer literate

Not essential, but considered favorably is:

• Experience in public / government office
