ROLE OVERVIEW

A leading Oil & Gas company, located in in Baku, Azerbaijan is looking for an exceptional Head of Geology.

A successful incumbent be responsible for leading sub-surface well design and geological rig support, specifically in the areas of structural geology, drill programs, geostatistics, resources modelling and reserves estimation. This is a functional leadership role, with significant autonomy. Drive, Leadership & Vision will be key in selecting candidates.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Provide expert geological technical advice and guidance to Well Delivery teams
• Review geological interpretations, models and studies in support of exploration investment proposals.
• Ensure high quality geological analysis by the teams, and compliance and consistency with company system standards.
• Lead geologic efforts at key asset area to be determined by working to exploit the reservoirs targeted in an efficient manner.
• Stimulate the creation of ideas around current and future exploration activities.
• Provide management support of policy and process review to driving improvements and efficiencies.
• Create, generate, manage and present sound, high-quality geologic interpretations and recommendations for new acreage and/or drilling opportunities to senior management.
• Ongoing development of current staff. Improving relationships between different teams across the region.
• Support the company with annual corporate goals in respect of exploration KPI’s.

ESSENTIAL JOB REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS:

Education:

- University degree in Geosciences.

Experience:

• Minimum 10 years’ performing geological operations within a multi-disciplinary team and at least 5 of which require well site work.
• Understanding of play analysis including reserves, economics, and risk assessment. Capacity to weigh all factors and identify risks.
• Experience in directional & horizontal drilling and well operations.
• Extensive experience in log analysis and petrophysical concepts.
• Experience in successfully coaching and developing exploration staff.

Skills:

• Ability to communicate technical data through the preparation and presentation of clear, concise, and persuasive oral/written opinions, reports, and presentations.
