About us

BMIS is an international school operating within Baku Modern Educational Complex (BMEC). BMEC, formerly known as Baku Modern School, was founded in 2012 by group of local businessmen with the primary intention of creating impeccable ambience for quality education. Initially, BMIS was registered as a school within a school. In 2016, organizational changes occurred, and BMIS became an independent school as a part of BMEC. The school has an indoor sports hall, an indoor swimming pool, as well as an outdoor artificial turf soccer field. All classrooms, laboratories, and extra-curricular facilities are equipped with the latest technologies, in order to provide the highest quality learning environment possible. Classrooms are geared towards specific subjects, including science laboratories, Information technology centers, the library, art rooms, the robotic engineering room, the chess room, the dance hall, as well as a 200 seat Auditorium. Additionally, our health care center is staffed by fully licensed medical doctors and psychologists. BMIS has a unique curriculum designed and developed for its elementary school. The curriculum is prepared based on Common Core State Standards and AERO. The curriculum is consistent with the school mission and designed to achieve the school wide learning outcomes.

At BMIS, students stay from 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. After 3:00 pm students complete their homework assignments with presence of teaching assistants, and take a part in various extra-curricular activities, including sports.
Students are provided with breakfast, lunch and snacks every school day. Our school’s health specialist ensures that the students’ nutritional needs are met, and caters to students with individual dietary requirements.

Responsibilities

Teaching Responsibilities

• Plan and teach ELA subject
• Coordinate curriculum with other elementary school teachers
• Work with the school curriculum consultant to plan curriculum
• Work with students individually as well as in groups
• Prepare, administer, and grade examinations and assignments in order to evaluate students' progress
• Assess student work strictly following the school standards, which allow to develop positive pupil development
• Observe and evaluate students’ performance
• Regularly post course assignments and assessment results on student portal
• Prepare progress reports and notes for parent meetings
• Provide parents with feedback on student progress and achievements, at parent meetings and via other means of communications identified by the school School-Wide Responsibilities
• Attend staff meetings and staff trainings (professional development) as required
• Take a part in student admission process
• Supervise students at break time
• Conduct student-led unit celebrations and conferences
• Participate in all school assemblies
• Participate in school-wide curriculum review
• Work with faculty members and school leadership to develop and refine curriculum and assessments

Other Responsibilities

• Organize own teaching area and learning resources
• Create atmosphere to encourage a positive learning environment
• Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' needs and interests
• Integrate school mission, objectives and goals into teaching and student learning
• Meet school-wide learning performance goals
• Establish clear objectives for all lessons and projects, and clearly communicate those objectives to students
• Be able to use technology (gadgets), online learning tools/sources, and other equipment/materials in a class setting
• Instruct/ monitor students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent damages
• Maintain discipline in line with school policy
• Confer with parents or guardians, teachers, administrators in order to resolve students' behavioral and academic problems
• Communicate with parents as well as other relevant professionals regarding student needs
• Supervise, evaluate, and plan assignments for teacher assistants and volunteers
• Organize and label materials, and display student works
• Assist and take part in organisation of school events, outings and activities as required

Requirements

Elementary school teachers are often required to know how to encourage and communicate well with young children in order to help them develop in their earliest academic years. Since school children learn slowly, teachers should demonstrate patience and be passionate about the job. Teachers should communicate with parents on regular basis via phone, email and/or through face to face meetings.

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Teaching from accredited university; Masters degree preferred
• 3 Years teaching experience in elementary school (preferably in international schools)
• Clear Criminal Record
• Health Report
• Valid Passport
• Extra teaching credentials would be an asset

Payment and Benefits

• Annual salary for the position: equivalent to 28000 – 36000 USD (In monthly installments)
  Note: this is a tax-free amount
• Housing: Fully furnished Apartment; (utility expenses are included)
• 50% discount on tuition of the dependents (currently only elementary school exists)
• Flight: a round-trip air ticket per school year (expats can also choose one-way ticket to Baku, and get specified amount for the flight ticket back to home country at the end of the school year)
• Extra-Luggage fees are covered (up to 50 kilos)
