Tendering Engineer (Technical)

Interfacing with major national and international customers who will be working within the Procurement team responsible for the proposals and tender of complex high value engineering projects.
An experienced engineer with good technical project management skills who will need to understand interpret and respond to complex technical specifications and documentation.
Coordinate all aspects of the bid preparation process.

Main duties

• To work within the Tendering Department and Project Team to develop tender strategy
• To manage the preparations of technical proposals for a range of items by coordinating the activities of the Technical team
• To review and manage the customers enquiry process into a workable solution
• To submit a detailed response to the enquiry documentation and provide answers responses to any subsequent requests for clarification 
• To act as the company’s internal contact point for the customer during the enquiry and bidding processes
• To develop negotiate and agree confirm contract specifications with a variety of external groups including contractors end-users and other suppliers
• To develop and maintain relationships with the engineers and decision makers within the customer organizations
• To handle incoming tenders and by keeping a prioritized listing of outstanding tasks
• To respond to the tender participant’s (technical based) questions requests in a timely and efficient manner.
• To clarify subsequent documents and to prepare detailed tender documentations in a timely manner for contract engineering to execute the contract

The qualifications experience and knowledge

• Degree level education is preferred
• Must have an engineering education and background
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Excel, Word and preferably knowledge of SAP.
• Knowledge of contractual terms and conditions
• Highly responsive to client requirements
• Including on time responses and incorporating changes when requested

Experience

• Experience in a similar role preferably in Oil and Gas process applications
• Experience in ideally dealing with rotating equipment supply and a background of tendering and proposal preparation for large complex high value projects
• Commercially aware engineer

• Good interpersonal skills
• Capable of demonstrating previously achieving successful performance within a team environment
• Able to develop effective working relationships with the Technical Team and internal external supply team
• Flexible in the face of conflicting priorities
• Keen to learn and develop
