In March 2015 the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and KBR announced an agreement to establish a new engineering and support Services Company in Azerbaijan.  The legal entity name of the new company is SOCAR-KBR LLC and provides design, engineering, technical, procurement, construction supervision and project management services for projects across the upstream, midstream and downstream oil and gas sectors, in the Azerbaijan – Georgia – Turkey (AGT) region.  The key objective of this strong partnership is to create a world class Azerbaijan-based EPCm services company that will utilize the strength of both organizations and deliver top quality results by utilizing, developing and promoting Azerbaijani national content. Job Title  : Mechanical Engineer

BRIEF STATEMENT OF DUTIES   

Responsible for the design, specification, selection, and services relating to rotating machinery including compressors, pumps, and packaged equipment.

The role of a rotating machinery involves extensive interface with the client, project management, suppliers, corporate management, and the global team of mechanical engineers employed throughout KBR’s worldwide offices.

The minimum qualification requirements for this position are a degree in Mechanical Engineering and a full member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers or a recognised equivalent.

The required competency and skills would typically have been built up working for a consultant engineering company, machinery manufacturer, or end user company. Personnel would be expected to have a varied and extensive experience of rotating machinery applications in the onshore (including LNG plants and refineries) and offshore (including platforms and / or FPSOs) oil and gas project environment to include concept, front end engineering design, detailed design, commissioning, and operations. 

A specialist and detailed knowledge of the major machinery types, to include centrifugal, axial and reciprocating compressors, pumps, and gas/steam turbines will be required. A good working knowledge of machinery rotordynamics, machinery performance calculations, lubrication, shaft sealing, and machinery selection criteria is essential.  Field experience in the manufacturing, performance testing, commissioning, and trouble shooting of machinery systems is strongly desired. Also required is a working knowledge of API industry standards for machinery and the ability to develop and maintain technical standards and guidelines.

Job success will depend on interpersonal skills and the effective interaction with others. Selected personnel will be highly competent in written and spoken communication and therefore be able to make effective presentations, and write technical reports including technical papers.

 Computer Literacy
 Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent (Masters level is preferable)
 Minimum 5~7 years post graduate working experience
 Chartered, or approaching chartered, status
 Ability to supervise junior engineers and designers
 Additional experience of site/field supervision and technical support is desirable. Knowledge of international design codes and standards would also be viewed favourably.
