Project Controller (Oil and Gas Industry)

Purpose / Role

The primary role of the Project Controller to track and coordinate the progress of the project on a day-to-day basis to ensure that the project is on-track. The Project Controller is the point person for all accounting and finance needs at a project level. This position interfaces directly with project and district level management, providing trusted insight into the financial health of a project. The primary focuses of this position include: evaluating job cost, data reporting/analysis for management, budgeting/forecasting and revenue recognition.

Responsibilities and duties:

• Ensure clear definition of the Project Control requirements of his assigned project and to be fully familiar with the Contract.
• Prepare, agree and issue the Project Services Execution Plan in accordance with Company Procedures
• To determine the staffing requirements based on the workload and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.
• Prepare the progress measurement system such as manpower histograms, which indicate the number of people required each month, progress S curves which will indicate the progress that the project makes at a given point of time etc, which are reviewed at periodic intervals.
• Monitoring progress of the work for timely execution of the project through weekly/monthly reports with respect to review of the overall project.
• Follows and implements proper internal controls, and acts as main point of contact for any internal or external financial audits
• Co-ordinate internal project team reviews followed by an approval and review by the client of the work schedule, progress measurement and reporting systems.
• Review the status continuously and keep the Project Manager apprised of the progress and the areas needing attention for schedule adherence.
• Manage or coordinate a team of Planners, Schedulers, Cost and other support team members if required.
• Generate project progress charts, develop and execute measurement systems to process, analyse and identify improvements.
• Sufficiently resource the project(s) team and manage the project budget, developing and monitoring project cost forecasts.
• Determine schedule, estimates and work scope to execute and complete deliverables , application of various project progress methods to ensure the project schedule is on track to meet deadlines or deliverables
• Develop and maintain project cost and schedule information and reporting systems.
• Oversee, identify plan deviations and recommend resolution for project manager.
• Support administrative and organizational activities to perform cost analysis and estimation as per contractual procedures, objectives and requirements.
• Utilize earned value management (EMV) techniques to track time and cost performance and identify trends/opportunities for improvement.Conduct cost variance analysis and schedule against baseline values through PMI Earned Value Measurement technique.

Qualifications:

• Graduate engineer with approximately 8 years of experience in the oil and gas industry conversant with projects and execution.
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal)
• Experience in the development of Risk/Cost/ Quality Management
• Experience in Primavera P6 and MS Project
• Must be self-motivated and possess a high degree of analytical ability and confidentiality, and work in a safe, prudent and organized matter.

Job type: full-time

Reports to: Project Manager

Working hours: Monday-Friday, 08:30 am – 17:30pm, 5 working days a week.
